Using The Right Fishing Lure To Land The Perfect Fish
There are few things that will rival real bait when it comes to coaxing a fish to attack. However, live bait is not always easily available so the next best thing is a good fishing lure. In fact, with the a good fishing lure you have a good chance of landing a big catch.
A fishing lure basically simulates the actions and colors of live bait to encourage the fish to attack. Lures will have one, two, or perhaps three hooks that will catch the fish when it bites.
Fishing lures are most commonly used with fishing poles. They are cast out by the fisherman and recreate the movements of the prey as they are reeled back in. With some knowledge, the fisherman can also use the reel to help make the fishing lure's movements look more genuine to fish.
There are a number of different varieties of fishing lures for different types of fish, fishing and environments. Here are a few of the most common options:
Spoon lures - To the human eye these just look like the top of a spoon. However, as they move underwater these fishing lures reflect glints of light that copies the sun reflecting off a fish's skin.
Artificial flies - These lures are utilized in in fly fishing. The lure resembles a winged insect that the fisherman makes hop across the top of the water.
Plugs - These fishing lures are in the shape of small fish and move accordingly as they pass in the water.
Soft lures - These are a basic form of fishing lure, made from plastic or rubber to look like worms, lizards and other kinds of water dwellers.
Fishing lures have many advantages over real bait. As mentioned, they are readily at hand whenever you decide to go fishing. Also, they cost less as they can be used again and again, whereas live bait has an extremely limited lifespan. What is more, by utilizing fishing lures you are helping to make fishing more sustainable. For one thing, you will help boost the fish population by not adding to the harvesting of live bait. In addition, it is well known that lures cause less damage to fish during 'catch and release' fishing, again helping to maintain fish populations.
Fishing lures can be bought in any fishing equipment shop, on the internet or you can easily make your own. Effective lures can be made from many household objects, including metal, plastic, string, tinsel, wire or wood. If it shines and looks like bait it may be all you need to land you your next big catch.

Practical Features Of Waterproof GPS Handhelds To Benefit Modern Sportsmen
Thursday, July 30, 2009
This is all possible because GPS is already made waterproof for practical navigation and sports. Though they were originally intended for land use in military and government applications, technology enabled GPS to be functional in water despite its electronic components.
Though they used to be expensive, waterproof units are now available at an affordable price. For sea kayakers, it provides accurate data about their path in the middle of the sea. Bikers can also benefit from waterproof units because they encounter varying weather conditions aside from moist and humidity. It is also portable and easy to use, making it an indispensable navigational tool for sportsmen.
Maps: GPS maps show topographical information like elevation and terrain of the surroundings in 2D or 3D. It can also improve visual representation by shading elevated contours in different zoom levels through DEM or Digital Elevation Model. DEM offers its users with enhanced mapping visuals for better analysis.
Waypoints: It is also called POI or Points of Interest. Waypoints are useful in storing landmarks and important locations along the trip. Sportsmen can store data about the location of their last campsite, or the coordinates where they changed directions. Some units can store 1000 waypoints, but for common usage, 500 will be enough. Waypoints are analogous to tree markings implemented by past sportsmen when in a forest. In addition, GPS units can do calculations on two waypoint data, or delete past waypoints to free some memory for another. Sophisticated units have the feature to exchange waypoint data among GPS handhelds, allowing sportsmen to share their experience and past routes.
WAAS or Wide Area Augmentation System: It is a corrector for the signal received by the handheld. GPS have the tendency to have higher deviation as distance increases. Enabling WAAS increases the accuracy of GPS up to five times for distances beyond 10 feet as opposed to disabling the WAAS.
Maps: It contains topographical information about the terrain. GPS maps can either be 2D or 3D, and can have DEM, or Digital Elevation Model, technology to shade elevated contours when zoomed out. GPS handhelds can store additional maps by reading data cards or compact discs.
Touch screen and switching between urban driving, hiking, and water sports are some advanced features of waterproof GPS handhelds. It can also have memory slots and digital compass. Since its main feature is usability in water, new models also show sea depth, docks, and other related information. Its package was designed to float to get it easier when dropped in water. Some units have built-in radios to provide communication within 5 miles, as long as there will be corresponding FCC license.

Ultralight Fishing Tips To Help You Catch More Fish This Summer!
One of everybodies favorite ultralight bass fishing styles is using topwater baits. So yeah, name somebody who doesn't love a big blowup, especially on a small lure! When people are talking about the subject, poppers, and buzzbaits are usually the top of the conversation. People have caught more fish with these 2 lures, than with any other topwater baits combined.
The prime time to use topwater lures is early in the morning, or later in the evening. When the clouds are moving in thick, and the sky is getting grey, you should also break out your topwater lures. You can get away with using fast moving lures during the mid summer, but you just have to pick the right time.
With the water heating up to uncomfortable conditions this time of year, the bass tend to not chase baits actively during the day. This is why waiting until the water cools down to use the faster moving baits is key.
When the sun is high in the sky however, the fish can't look overhead for their meal. They don't have eyelids to protect themselves and their eyes from damage. It is easier to stay in cover, or look down for your meal, until the sun settles in. This is when I head for the worms and jigs.
The jig and worm are perfect for when the sun is shining bright, because they can be bounced slow or fast across the bottom, stirring up the silt and attracting attention. Finding fish with these baits is a slow going method, but you have to be patient if you want to be successful and catch more fish anyways!

Fishing the Flats with Henry Waszczuk
Wednesday, July 29, 2009
It looks so easy when my man, Henry Wszczuk, does it, on Fishing the Flats TV. But while I might not be able to take in the more exotic sport fishing available to Henry and his ilk, in spots like Mexico or Costa Rica, I was perfectly content to fish home waters in my native Florida.
Before you knew it, Waszczuk had his own fishing magazine, and he turned years of angling experience into dynamic fishing the flats TV. Any given week, the viewer can watch Waszczuk and crew take on a new adventure. One episode might deal with fishing the flat (and ultra-skinny) waters of Charlotte Harbor, Florida, seeking the mighty redfish in its winter habitat.
Then there's the thrill known only to the angler who dares to fish the flats of the Florida Keys for tarpon, a creature known to tip the scales at one hundred pounds. Speaking of fishing the flats in Florida, feisty reds can also be found in the mangroves of Clearwater, an experience unequaled for those seeking pristine outdoors scenes.
More reds, more chances for me. This is prime fishing time, when the game fish are rushing in on the flats, right on the top of an incoming tide. Fishing the flats at time like this is what it's all about. Think about it mathematically. Fishing during a full moon plus a spring tide equals 3 to 4 hours of good fishing!
Down around Sanibel and Captiva Island in the southwestern part of the state offers the chance to fish the flats for snook, tarpon and sea trout. To fish the flats here, which are thick with turtle grass and studded with oyster shell bars, is practically guaranteeing catching some redfish, which hunt the baitfish hiding in the oyster shells.
I'll never forget one morning in particular, last summer, when I spotted a bunch of redfish hanging around a rocky creek mouth, going to town on some mullet. I landed the fly right in front of 'em, and before you knew it, I was fly fishing the flats like the pros on Fishing the Flats TV.
So, to sum up, once I figured out that the best fishing is usually when the tide is coming in or out, fishing the flat waters around my home has become a blast.

Learning How to Fish
Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Even expert fishermen are known to take some on rough days. Take one before you go to sleep, another when you wake up and a third one before you go on board.
2. Get a decent reference manual: There are loads of very good books available in your local bookshops and online. A party boat is a bargain for novices.
4. Select a pier: Assuming you have already learned the skills to operate a rod and reel, you ought to look for a fishing pier. Most coastal cities have a public pier or pay-to-fish pier. You can hire tackle and buy bait on these piers and, if you do have problems, there are many pier anglers around to help and give you tips.
5. Party or pier?: You may want to do either step three or four times or both at the same time at this point. The best thing to do is to practise both ways several times to really learn them.
6. The reel way: The conventional reel is probably what you've been using at this point. The conventional reel is made to take a lot of wear and tear. However, maybe you now want to think about purchasing a different type or / and make of reel. Hopefully, you have already met other fishermen and maybe made a friend or two who can assist you in selecting a reel. You could also ask a tackle store owner for tips.
First off, you ought to understand the mechanism of the reel and the other equipment. Learning to cast, tie knots and bait is not that complicated. Secondly, you need to learn where to fish. Successful fishermen know where the fish are schooling. Fish move from place to place and clever fishermen know these patterns and are able to anticipate where the fish are schooling.

Plan Your Fish Trophy
First, find a fish taxidermist before you go on your trip. You should look for a person who specializes in fish taxidermy, since this is a difficult field. You want somebody with lots of experience mounting fish. Look at your taxidermist's work. Do you love it? You'll have your trophy for a long time, so you want to make sure you get a fine piece of furniture. While you're there, talk to the fish taxidermist about the types of mounts you might want and the prices for various types of trophies.
Second, do some planning before you head out for your fishing trip. At the least, you'll need to bring a camera, some pliers, and material to pack the fish in. A photo of the fish right after you've caught it will be useful to the taxidermist for matching the natural colors. The pliers will come in handy if you have to get out a stubborn hook. Any damage to the fish will show up in the final mount, so be gentle. Lastly, you'll want to pack the fish in ice to preserve it. Since water make the colors fade faster, wrap the fish in plastic before you put the fish on ice.
Finally, put some thought into how you'll mount your fish before you bring it in. Do you want to put your fish on the coffee table or on a mantle? Do you want a small mount or a larger one with a plaque? Thinking about these questions before you bring your fish in will make things easier. Talk to your taxidermist to get the best advice. Good luck!

History Of The Inflatable Boat
The 1st Duke of Wellington in 1939, Arthur Wellesley had tested the development of the Inflatable Pontoon Boat during his term as the Leader of the House of Lords. Then in the early 1900s due to technology advances in the manufacturing process of rubber, it was then possible to make the Inflatable Raft from rubber. Obviously during this time period, the Inflatable Boats were not mechanically propelled, so the only way to navigate these Inflatable Rafts was to paddle. Due to inherent flaws in the rubber manufacturing process the Inflatable Boats tended to split at the seams.
With the 1912 loss of the RMS Titanic and then the World War I losses of war ships to torpedoes launched by submarines, inflatable boats for use as life rafts was obvious. The most prominent cause of the loss of life on the Titanic was the lack of lifeboats. There was such a shortage of life rafts that no more than 50% of the passengers could have been saved if each one had been used to its capacity.
This disaster was shortly there after created the initial SOLAS treaty to avoid such catastrophes again. The main premise of the SOLAS treaty was to ensure that there were adequate numbers of lifeboats aboard all vessels so that every person had a space on a life boat in the event of an emergency. [http://www.imo.org/Conventions/contents.asp?topic_id=257&doc_id=647]
Cargo ships did not have a difficulty in meeting the new standards at the time as they did not carry many hands on these vessels; however War Ships and Passenger Liners had a very difficult task at hand. For the Passenger Liners to accommodate this had to stack the lifeboats where ever they could in order to meet the new requirements.
Goodyear had discovered a way to better manufacture the Inflatable Boats in between the two World Wars but unfortunately, the conservative though of the time held back its production. The inflatable boats that get produced were life rafts of square-shaped inflated rubber cylinders with a rigid floor. These inflatable rafts were stacked vertically aboard warships on deck.
Then came along Pierre Debroutelle with his 1937 design of the Inflatable Boat. It was the first known to have the now traditional U-Shaped inflatable tube. It was so revolutionary that it was the first boat of its kind to gain certification from the French Navy. Later in 1943 a wooden transom was patented on 10 August 1943. Today, you can see the similarities in this version as compared to today's inflatable sports and pleasure boats.
World War II created a prominent need for a new version of the Inflatable Life Raft with the escalation of the number of submarine attacks against the War Ships and Merchant Ships due to the number of casualties
It was now that the War Ships found the real need for Rubber Life Boats which helped the rubber industry to yet improve again in quality of materials and production " now the Inflatable Boat was shaped like a traditional boat and was better than it had ever been before.
Now is the Inflatable Boats day to shine as it is no longer only a utilitarian war and rescue watercraft, it is now an economical option with can go many places that other boats can not including the trunk of your car. Inflatables are a smart option for anyone, and if the cost of boat ownership have held you back from having a conventional boat, Inflatables are an affordable option.

Boat Evaluation Decalogue For Doing It Yourself
Wednesday, July 22, 2009
1) Check the boat's hull first, having the vessel out of the water if at all possible. Take note of any scratches, dents, repairs, or other points of interest that may need extra repairs and reduce the value of the boat.
2) Next, look at hatches and fittings on the superstructure. Ideally, everything should fit well, be watertight, in good condition and not warped by dampness. Any exceptions to this warrant a discount on the total price.
3) Check engine(s), steering & transmission: Check that the steering and throttle control cables are in good condition and that the wheel moves freely (and without squeaking) and that the transmission smooth, from forward, to neutral, to reverse. Check the oil level of the engine and examine the colour and texture of the oil. If it's grainy or gritty, they're possibly tiny slivers of metal that indicate potentially serious mechanical problems. If the oil has a slightly milky appearance, it signifies that there is a water leak into the engine.
4) Check the radio as well as all the electrical equipment, the batteries, and all switches. Make sure that everything works and is in good order, and that there is no excessive wear and tear.
5) What secrets do the bilges hide? Open up the floorboards to have a look. If you see any signs for oil or water, ask about previous flooding. If the bilges are dirty, maintenance on the boat has probably been haphazard.
6) Now revisit all the external surfaces, from the deck to the inner furnishings, and also all the upholstery. Are there any problems that may result in a lower value of the boat? What is the status of repair of all these items?
7) Have another look at the wooden parts of the boat, if any are present. Is there any sign of warping, chipped areas, or damp spots? Is the wood well maintained? This is a difficult and expensive area to repair, and you want to make sure that there won't be too much to do extra.
8) For sailing boats, check the sails and the rigging . Check that all the sails and rigging (including spares) are in good condition; do not only look for evidence of repairs, but also make sure everything functions easily and flows freely.
9) Are any accessories, such as dinghies or navigation electronics, part of the boat evaluation? Don't overlook these as they may make quite a difference on the end price, and provide a basis for extra negotiations and price reduction.
10) Don't neglect to look at the safety equipment. Not only do you want to ensure that it's present and in good order, but its state of maintenance will shed light on the care that the previous owner put into the boat, which is an important consideration for boat evaluation.

Treasure Island And Jurassic Park: Cocos Island of Costa Rica
Cocos Island is one of the treasures of the planet. The renowned Jacques Cousteau called this Costa Rica island the most beautiful island he had ever seen , Costa Ricans have selected this little national park one of its Seven Wonders, and it is being considered as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
Though it is a small island located nearly 350 miles off the Costa Rica Pacific coast, it is world famous for its spectacular scuba diving. Indeed, its waters are filled with fish, porpoises, whales, and sea turtles, and there are sometimes so many sharks, it is often called Shark Island. Experienced scuba divers travel here from across the planet because it is renowned as the greatest place in the world to dive with large sea animals.
The island has been famous for pirates, real and imagined, for centuries. It is believed by many that it was the inspiration for Robert Lewis Stevenson's famous pirate adventure Treasure Island but sometimes real pirates sailed to it to escape the English fleet and to bury their treasure. Two great treasures, the Devonshire Treasure and the Lima Treasure, worth hundreds of millions of dollars today, may still be buried there.
It also fired the imagination of Michael Crichton whose world famous Jurassic Park is set off the coast of Costa Rica.
With the exception of a few Costa Rica park rangers whose job it is to protect its waters from poaching, the island is uninhabited. Its isolation has protected its rainforest from depredation and for centuries its underwater splendor was unmolested .
If you are one of the lucky few who get to visit Cocos, you will need previous permission from the rangers to go ashore and you will not be allowed to camp overnight. But, as you walk the shores, thinking of pirates and imagining where the buried treasure is, you will see many rocks along the shore bearing inscriptions from sailors over the centuries. Way before Kilroy was here, sailors wrote their names and dates of visits. There is even find one bearing the name of Jacque Cousteau's son, who signed a rock a couple of decades ago.

Baitcasting Fishing Reels
Fishing equipments are an integral part of fishing; the finer the accessories, the better the experience. One of the most important tools is the reel and a baitcasting fishing reel is a highly regarded tool for the task. And if you are considering becoming skilled at using this piece of equipment, then you'd need a lot of practice and patience.
So what's so special about the baitcasting reel? First and foremost, it enhances your casting by letting you effortlessly increase the length of the cast as and when required.
You also are afforded an additional functionality of playing the fish, using the baitcasting reel, because there is nothing coming in the way of the line going off line. However, this very advantage can become a problem owing to a backlash.
When a baitcasting fishing reel backlashes, it does so hard, getting into a practically impossible tangle. It's recommended that you never cast it with a wind going, as even expert anglers get it tangled in such conditions.
But how do you solve this backlash issue? Thumb control. By controlling the amount of line you let off with your thumb, you can avoid the the backlash... but this requires a lot of patience and practice to learn. Until then, and even afterward, it's a good idea to bring along a back up reel.
Both fishing enthusiasts and professionals alike consider the baitcasting fishing reel as the best to none, and is a tool of choice of choice of many professionals. It definitely is an extremely wonderful reel, although you must be patient and persistent to master this tool.

GPS Devices Are For Many Purposes
Monday, July 20, 2009
There are a few different manufacturers who make GPS units and if you are thinking of buying one this summer you will have to make a choice. Mio is a maker that has units that are trendier than some of the others and they are trying to reach a younger crowd. For instance, they have recently released their Knight Rider GPS devices that sit atop your car dashboard and let you experience a K.I.T.T like voice exactly like the television series.
The biggest manufacturer by far is Garmin and they have a big share of the GPS market worldwide. They make GPS units that can be useful in driving, biking, boating, and other things. They make units that are all voice ready that means you never have to worry about taking your eyes off the road or trail.
Although the prices of GPS units have come down somewhat, they have not come down as much percentage wise as other new technologies such as flat screens. Usually, when something is new it is very high priced and only a few can afford it. As more units are produced and the new technology is perfected, the price often comes down significantly. As mentioned, the price has come down somewhat for GPS units but not enough to make them desirable for everyone.
The rental car industry has embraced GPS and all of the major companies have cars you can rent that have GPS units. Right now, you have to pay extra for a car with one of the units but it seems only a matter of time before they become standard. People who rent cars are usually from another place and need directions so GPS technology is an almost perfect match for this industry.

How to Choose the Right Fishing Line
The very first thing you need to check for is the diameter and length of the line. When using a spinning reel, the best choice you can use is a line with a thin diameter. Casting and retrieving the line will become easier and is less seen when thrown in the water.
Choosing the color of the line is also important. Better stick with colorless lines especially when fishing in clear water. And you can go for the colored ones when fishing in murky water. Just try to match the color of the line with the water condition or color where you are going to fish.
Going for a brighter color such as yellow is fine but make sure to attach a colorless line as a leader. You do not want the line to be too obvious for the fish.
A braided fishing line is perfect for any kind of water condition. It is less visible when thrown in the water. But choose braided lines that has fluorocarbon or monofilament leader.
Different kinds of lines will surely have different prices and quality. You do not have to go for the most expensive ones just make sure that the quality is superb. And also consider how many times you are going to use it because you might just go fishing once a month or every other month.
So, when you are going to buy a fishing line, you already have a guide on how to pick the right one. Asking questions as a beginner will be a great help because this is how you learn things.

Custom Boat Seats And Pitfalls To Avoid While Ordering
Sunday, July 19, 2009
Boat seats can serve multiple special purposes on watercraft. Some seats are made for captains and skippers, others for the crew, and others again for passengers or people fishing. You need to bear the specifics and the purpose of the seat in mind when ordering bespoke boat seats.
Get a list for the specifications that you need your seats to have and send them to several manufacturers, asking for a price quote. Make sure to put as many specs as you can in the request, and ask for their timing to build the boat seats too.
The way that they reply to your spec list will show you whether they are expert and reputable, and approaching more than one builder will also allow you to compare prices and decide which manufacturer will give you the best value for your money.
Not only should you make sure that the boat seat manufacturer has understood the exact size requirements of your order, but if at all possible he should also commit in writing to modifying the seats if the sizing turns out to be wrong.
If you order custom boat seats, there will be a wealth of details that you will need to decide upon, and it's easy to get lost in the maze of options. Make sure that all the details follow the imperative of function, whether on style, material or color.
Concerning special modifications and extras, you should mention whether you want the boat seats to include storage space, any seat belts for holding down the passengers, or whether they should be padded.
Boat seat padding can be of many different types, light, medium or heavy, removable as in cushions, or fixed. Be sure to specify all this, especially if you are taking a lot of passengers on your boat.
Boat seat materials are another very important point. If you are going to install the seats on a vintage yacht, for instance you will want the seating of the right material to fit with the rest of the boat. If you use wood on your boat seats, make sure that it had been pressure-treated
Once you receive the seats, make sure that there are no protruding hard parts that will make being seated for a long time an uncomfortable proposition, or no on will want to sit down on your custom boat seats.

Beginning to Freshwater Fish With The Fly Casting Reel
We address a wide range of fishing gear including reels, rods, baits, lines, and a ton of other gear. We hope by the conclusion of the series that you will be able to buy the exact fishing tackle for the type of fishing you will be doing.
The first subject reviewed is the fishing reel, starting with the spincast, spinning and baitcast reels. These reels have many differences but basically do the same job, you cannot say that about the final reel in our series. The Fly Fishing Reel was designed as a way to manage your fishing line and is not used for casting or reeling in your catch.
Without a fly casting reel you would be tripping over slack line and working to bring in or let out line with each cast. The fly casting reel has always been very basic in terms of the way it is built, little has changed from their initial construction.
To use a fly reel you simply pull some line off the reel and cast forward, releasing it as the rod flicks forward. Newer designs do come with a drag mechanism to prevent the fish from releasing out more line that is desired.
Newer fly casting reels also have upgraded and advanced disc-type drag systems made of composite materials that boast increased adjustment range, more consistency, and resistance to high temperatures from drag friction. And for the lazy angler you can also find fly reels with an auto retrieve feature to bring in your line without turning a handle.
Fly casting reels usually have large line spools designed to reduce line memory, keep consistent drag and help the quick retrieval of slack line in the event a hooked fish makes a fast turn back to the fisherman.
The primary weaknesses of the fly reel is its limited use, it is used strictly for fly fishing and does not allow for casting. Fly casting reels also tend to be on the expensive side.
An excellent example of the fly cast reel is the "Orvis Battenkill Mid-Arbor Fly Reels," priced at under $130. It has a classic mid-arbor design that minimizes line curl and increases line retrieval rates compared to standard-arbor reels. It has an easy-to-grab drag knob machined from 6061 bar stock aluminum and extremely durable and lightweight.

Bimini Tops, Boats And Also Trawling Facts
Saturday, July 18, 2009
Here is a list of some items to contemplate.
Usually there is a good spot to fish from the beach of a lake, stream or river. Different times, you will ought to accept as true that what type of transport you will need to get over the lake.
A small rowboat unaccompanied by a motor is supposed to be a reasonable type of fishing boat to use given that you can be on your feet in it to cast. Even though it is best to row to the position where you want to fish, a little trolling motor is convenient, for travelling some distances.
Larger fishing boats with outboards are also recommended, but a boat with high sides is best as big lakes and broad rivers are prone to winds that can whip big waves.
You can additionally obtain or build a boat targa top which provides for you to remain standing below cover whilst bait casting and catching fish, while also giving rod holders to store your fishing rods. This is an accessory that is superior than a bimini top and conveniently lowers downwards into the boat.
It is a very good idea to have some protection from the sun and it is nice to have shelter from the rain and a bimini top or a boat targa top is perfect for the job.
You additionally ought to find some quality footwear. This becomes especially important if you are intending to fish by the shoreline of a lake. Hip boots are the most sensible for this as they can be rolled down if you're not wading.
While hip boots can also be used for stream wading, chest-waders are traditionally best here. When choosing chest or hip-wader boots, select ones that have a loose fit. Having waders that are too tight could restrict leg motion and undue stress on the seams could leave you wet.
You aught to opt for a jacket accompanied by big pockets for carrying lure containers and some tools. A hat with a visor is a n excellent aim for the reason that you will have your eyes on the lake and require some type of shelter.
The insatiable angler has three main stashes of lure and fishing tackle-quarters containers. The number one group is for the house reserves, the following and bigger one for the boat, and a third bunch is for the motor vehicle. With that mechanism, you will constantly be backed up in the event of a losing something or some mishap.
It is a good idea to buy a large supply at the beginning of the season too so you will have lots on hand, especially if you like to fish at night.

Boat Seats - How to Find the Best Buy
Very often a recent owner of a new or used vessel finds that the existing seating is not sufficient for the purposes the boat was bought for, or is in need of modification often implying a complete replacement.
Boat seats are parts that insure not only the well-being of your fellow mariners, but also serve to convey your personality onto your boat.
For instance, what would guests or colleagues think if they saw your new boat and noticed that the seating was sub-standard? Not something that you want to happen - and more so when the time will come to resell the boat.
In fact, especially when selling a boat or yacht, you will find that the investment of getting new seats will pay itself many times over.
There is a vast choice of different seating customizations that you can apply to your boat seats, and the number of outlets is just as plentiful, both in the physical world and on the net.
You will not be stuck with lack of choice, and the great variety of sellers is actually of help when it comes to getting a good deal, so make sure that you shop around and compare.
The next major tip would be to have safety issues in mind, always a major point when venturing into open waters. Comfortable seating is paramount if you do not want to tire out the vessel's crew.
You therefore need to ensure that seating is adapted to the boat and ergonomic. And if the seat is removable, it can always function as an emergency flotation device.

Freshwater Fishing Tackle Beginners Guide - The Spinning Reel
Thursday, July 16, 2009
We will address a wide range of fishing tackle from reels, rods, lures, baits, jigs, lines, and knives. It is hoped by the end of the series you can go online and buy the right gear and within budget.
We began our review on freshwater fishing reels with the spincast reel, the best reel for beginners and the infrequent fishermen. This review will cover the spinning reel, and will continue with the baitcast reel and lastly an article on the fly fishing reel.
Spinning reels come in numerous forms and are utilized by kids, casual hobbyist and enthusiastic sportsman alike. When it comes to fishing reels, the spinning reel is the most well-known and popular. It is chiefly used for light weight fishing and dominates in terms of performance and simplicity of use.
The spinning reel is ideal for catching just about any fish out there; whether it is creeks, mountain streams, local ponds or rushing rivers. You can land bass, trout, catfish, crappies it doesn't matter, if you have strong enough line your spinning reel will land the fish.
The spinning reel has a very recognizable look with the large wire bale around the open-faced line spool and a line roller to help control the line as you retrieve it. The reel handle or "crank" can have either one or two knobs, both work equally well at preventing line friction as you retrieve it, with little or no snarling. This type of reel is mounted on the underside of the rod.
There are few drawbacks to the spinning reel. It is only limited by the size of your fishing line, when compared to the baitcast reel it holds less line. This means you will need to use a smaller, lighter line to insure you have enough line to get to the point you want. The lighter the line the smaller fish you can land. The spinning reel is also not as accurate at casting as the baitcast reel
An prime example of spinning reel is the "Daiwa SS Tournament Spinning Reel," priced at $100 it is the perfect choice for serious or tournament angler, it features l Daiwa's long-Cast technology; a worm gear for perfect line winding; 3 stainless steel bearings; aluminum spool; and super-smooth drag with over-sized felt/stainless discs.
Look for our review of the baitcast reel in the next article in the continuing series "Freshwater Fishing Gear Beginners Guide.

Beginning to Freshwater Fish With The Baitcast Reel
Wednesday, July 15, 2009
Don't make the same mistake I made, I purchased gear that seemed great but was totally improper for the business at hand. With the horde of reels and rods that are available, not to mention the millions of baits, fishing knives, fishing nets, line thickness and other fishing tackle; how could a first timer not make a few incorrect and pricey purchases?
We started our series on freshwater fishing tackle with the reel; already reviewed were the spincast and spinning reels. Now we will address the Escalade of the fishing universe the Baitcast Reel; also referred to as baitcaster, baitcasting, casting reel, and a conventional reel.
Casting reels accommodate much bigger lines; thus allowing for longer casts than any of the previously reviewed reels in the same size range. Fishermen regularly use line in the 15- to 18-pound-test range.
The setup of the baitcaster permits for accurate casting to get the lure just where you need it. They use very tough drag systems to slow heavier, stronger fish and are intended to be used with heavier lures.
The baitcast reel is the desired reel for catching Wide-Mouth Bass, Salmon, Barramundi and more. Because of its casting accuracy it is great for fishing in water where snags and tangled line can be a problem or for casting under low standing bridges and walkways.
Casting reels have a revolving line spool that wraps in the identical way as the line as it works down the fishing rod. They have a center pin and the disks are connected by a series of external pins that displays the line. Some are built from composite materials, but most are still good old stainless steel, often with brass parts.
The baitcaster attaches above the rod, making it more difficult to handle and has a much higher learning curve than either the spincast or spinning reels. For this reason it is not a good entry level reel for children or the starting fisherman.
Because of its steeper price range it can be very costly for the casual weekend fisherman who will only fish from time to time. Since its main strength is as a casting reel it may be overkill for the weekend angler who just wants to put a line in the water and sit back and relax.
An excellent example of the baitcast reel is the Pflueger President LP Baitcast Reels, priced at under $150 and loaded with the features. It has nine double shielded stainless steel ball bearings and a one-way clutch instant anti-reverse bearing, rugged one-piece aluminum frame, aluminum handle side-plate, and six-pin adjustable centrifugal brake system.
Our review of the Fly Fishing Reel is next article in the continuing series "Freshwater Fishing Gear Beginners Guide.

Go Back Country for Shallow Water Fishing
This estuary winds its winning way through hundreds of small islands. The shallow water fish you are likely to come across includes snook, redfish, snapper and tarpon. Not to mention the abundant variety of wildlife, such as alligators, turtles and birds. But what about the boats necessary for such pleasure trips?
A great guide will not only be able to tell clients what to fish for, based on area, season, and weather, he can actually assess their strengths and weaknesses. Based on these variables, he can best advise for the shallow water fishing trip of their dreams.
When specifying back country, the anglers will either find themselves in the Everglades National Park or the shallow estuary of Florida Bay, most likely. Or they may take their shallow water boats into Biscayne Bay, or explore the wrecks of Marcos Island.
Wherever the guide and clients end up dropping their shallow water anchors, they are sure to have a chance at an astounding variety of species. They may reel in tarpon or trout, redfish or snapper, possibly even a shark. This is where the guidance of one who knows shallow water fish is invaluable. He'll know everything from tides to how wind and water temperature affect the behavior of the prey.
Motorized options for shallow water anchors mean that you press a button, and an anchoring pole deploys in mere seconds. No muss, no fuss, the spike goes down beneath the water, six to eight feet, and bingo, your boat is halted in its tracks. Shallow water anchors that are motorized ensure that even strong currents or blustering winds won't cause your boat to budge.
If you brought a guide along who knows shallow water fish, he can explain how such factors as tide, water temperature and wind speed can affect your chances at landing a big one.
The best shallow water boats also provide below deck storage areas for stowing gear, thus increasing and maximizing clear space on deck for optimum freedom of movement. When you're ready to cast, the last thing you want is to trip. If you can find the right boat, shallow water fishing should be a dream.

Your Handbook On Purchasing The Best Fly Fishing Rod
Tuesday, July 14, 2009
Fly fishing is tranquil and peaceful way be at ease and find comfort in life's simple pleasures. Though, when standing there peacefully whipping your fly to and fro, you should know that you have the right equipment to be successful. Not all fly fishing products are the same or built for the same situations and/or desired catches.
To begin, the line you choose should handle the types of trout that are in the brook, stream, or river you plan to fish at. Also, the weight of your reel and rod should be the same weight of the line you want to use. So, deciding on what you are fishing for is important in figuring out what type of line, rod, and reel you should use.
Next, you have to determine the size of fly that should be used as bait. If you are going for trout weighing anywhere from 1-6 pounds, a small to medium fly is best. This is the the most well-known type of fly fishing; trout are the most common fish using a small fly. But, fly fishing rods and reels can also be used for catching Bass, Steelhead, Salmon, and a few different types of saltwater fish. These other kinds of fish require different flies; they will not respond to small or medium sized flies.
Another important aspect of fly fishing is the rod. There are two basic materials that a rod can be built with: fiberglass or graphite. Fiberglass rods usually are less expensive and very durable. Graphite rods, however, are more expensive but are considered to be more accurate with casting. In deciding on a rod, it is important to also consider the action of the rod. The action of the rod is the flexibility or stiffness of a rod when casting or start to reel in a fish; there are basically three types: slow, medium, and fast-action. Slow-action rods are very flexible and are best for reeling in small to medium sized fish. On the other hand, fast-action rods are for larger fish. Fast-action rods have minimal flexibility and are great for crankingin large fish. Medium rods are an effective in between choice because they come with the ease of use for beginners and are best used to bring in large catches from far away.
In conclusion, to be skilled at fly fishing, you have to select the correct length for the rod. The method is very much like that of selecting the right action. The shorter rods are used for small fish, the medium for medium sized, and the long are for the big fish. The longer the rod, the more successful it is to cast far and bring in large fish. However, some anglers have been known to bring a short rod also in case of problems like bushes, shrubs, trees, and other things; shorter rods make it easy to cast over and around obstacles.
