Is Sailing Around The World With Kids Dangerous?

By Linda Ruiz

Sailing the world brings a lot of pleasure for people who love to travel. Sailing involves being exposed to nature for a long period of time and it may be pleasurable or even life threatening. Sailing around the world with kids is something that many people fear because it puts the children in a lot of danger. There are however some guideline that people can follow to make sure their children are safe when traveling.

A few months ago, there was a sailing family that decided to include their one year old daughter in the adventure. Their boat malfunctioned and their baby got sick thus they had to call the rescue center. This incident really highlighted the dangers of cruising with little children making people to think that those who choose this life for their children are crazy.

Some of the risks that may encounter these sailors while on their adventures may include things like the illnesses that may catch them while they are on remote locations that have no modern amenities. The sea sometimes has very heavy storms that may be dangerous especially for the kids. The children who are raised this way also miss a lot of things that normal children experience and this may not be fair to them.

As much as this is not a life for everyone, some sailors seem to think that it is a life that may also include children. The risk that they are exposed to can be balanced with the remarkable experience and the skill that they learn when on these trips.

These journeying parents believe that the normal children also experience their own bit of dangers and that their parentage also have experiences they love undergo. They think that they understand the boundary of their journeys and they can control it when the dangers are too much. People say that these traveling parents are very self-centered because they fail to stop their explorations for their kids. The sailors however say that their kids are not included on the trips because of untimeliness but because they decided to share their practices with them.

The experiences of children have a great effect on their lives based on their behaviors, their mental and physical health. These children do not get the chance to bond with other children therefore they become anti-social. They also miss many school experiences because they get home schooled instead of attending a normal school like other children.

Sailing with kids is with no doubt a remarkable adventure. It is however advisable that these parents always consider the risk they put these children in. If it is something they are sure they want to do, they can at least live on dry land until the kids are old enough to take the trip. Very little children get sick easily therefore it is not advisable to have them at sea.

When children have grown older, they can also have the power to say if they enjoy sail trips or not. Their parents usually take them when they are too young to let their feelings known. These parents cannot be sure that this is the kind of life the children want.
