Importance Of Marine Transport In The Transport Industry

By Dorothy Nelson

Transportation is a significant factor that is always required in our daily activities. However, there is demand for increased marine transport facilities because of its superiority in the distribution of heavy goods in long distances and different coastal areas. The following are the advantages that make it be considered superior

It provides low risk of loss. The goods carried by the ships are less exposed to accidents because accidents are rarely experienced during the transportation process, e. G., oil spills. All people require the means that is more secure, reliable and effective transportation that keeps his goods safe from any interference. Marine traffic hence provides much more security as compared to the other means.

Shipping produces low noise pollution. Noise pollution is an issue that disturbs the environment. Ships have low rumble engines that give them the advantage of making less noise as they move over the water. They are however more silent as compared to the trucks and trains that produce roar sounds as they transport the goods. Ships, therefore, are considered to be more reliable than the other carrying means.

It is pocket-friendly means of transport. All transportation materials require construction and maintenance. However, the materials used in each case differ regarding value. The materials used in the case of marine machines is cheaper as compared to one used in vehicles and trains. Therefore, makes water transport more cost friendly than the other means of transportation.

Marine transportation produces fewer air pollutant emissions. Every transporting machine emit toxic materials that are not friendly to the environment. When the comparison is made between ships or any water transportation equipment with trucks and trains, it is found out that boats emit less carbon dioxide and other air pollutants such as carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen and sulfur. This, however, makes it less pollutant.

Marine transportation enables access to distant areas and transportation of bulky goods between the coastal regions. Transportation to long distances with bulky goods has contributed majorly to the long-distance exchange of goods. Traders find it easy to move longer distances with their heavy products to meet with their fellow traders so that they can exchange their goods hence promoting international trade.

Marine transportation offers flexible service thus making the mode more convenient and client friendly. Water transport can be flexible regarding deviation from one route to another due to fewer obstacles that prevent movement. Thus has therefore enabled the efficiency of transportation of either goods or people.

sea transportation is efficient for carrying a large number of goods. The space available is sufficient enough to cater for a lot of products. The water bodies such as the sea are large hence providing adequate space where any big ship can move without disturbances. Therefore, makes water transportation more efficient for ferrying many goods.
