In South Carolina, visitors are guaranteed of enjoyable things to do and beautiful places to visit. The state also offers their visitors with various activities to do and various places to see. Both young and old can enjoy the historical lessons inculcated in every activities offered.
The Old Slave Mart Museum can be found in the town of Charleston. The visitors can be relieved of the history of Charleston which served during the period of domestic slave trade as an urban slave-trading hub. In order to make the visitors feel the slave trade period in Charleston, various media effects have been used in the presentation of different events.
The South Carolina Aquarium Sea Turtle Hospital is both a unique and entertaining treat. The Aquarium provides visitors a glimpse of how the sick and injured sea turtles are treated and cared for by the facilities' team of professionals. Another place worth visiting in the state is Benjamin Mays Historic Site.
In the record of National Register of Historic Places, the place where the First Baptist Church was established is in Columbia, South Carolina. It is also the place where the first Secession Convention in 1860 was held which later paved the way for Civil War. The original church built in 1811 can also be found in Sumter and Hampton Streets and the second church in 1859 but maintained its original stage furnishings, brick-pillared portico, and slave balcony.
Fort Hill Clemson is the site of John Calhoun's plantation home, office, and kitchen. Calhoun was a famous South Carolina statesman from 1825 to 1850. Thomas Green Clemson, Calhoun's son-in-law and founder of John Calhoun University, thought of keeping his father-in-law's home open to the public.
In Hartsville, South Carolina, the Coker Experimental Farms can be found which has been the site for breeding cottons that can be cultivated in the entire South in 1903. The site was luckily included in the National Register of Historic Places and in the National Historic Landmark. The facility is also among the 14 facilities that represent the country in the sector of agriculture.
