Essential Road Trip Tips

By Mitchell Scott

Road trips are a simple way to travel and see a lot.Yes, they are often long and many times boring but nonetheless they can also be a lot of fun plus a good chance to explore and connect with your fellow road trippers. Before you can start off your road trip just remember to have you need for your trip. You will need to create a packing list for your trip take along enough supplies to last the entire trip.Without further ado, here are my 6 strategies for an awesome road trip experience.

Bring a friend! Driving by yourself could get quite boring very rapidly. Bring some other person along to talk to, sing with, and help with all the driving. It helps if it's someone you enjoy spending time with as you'll be stuck in a vehicle with them for quite some time. However, a road trip might just be the perfect way to connect with someone you do not know too well or have had issues with previously.

Bring the noise You'll be in the car and on the road for a long time. While driving it is really not recommended that you read a book or watch your favourite t.v. show (not sure why). Therefore you should bring with you something to pass the time. A perfect choice is music.

If your car has an aux port then you have the option to plug your ipod (or other musical device with an aux port) right into your vehicle and listen to your music that way. If not, there are many other devices which allow you to broadcast over your car radio. Make sure that one of these gadgets makes it onto your packing list. You'll also be able to pick up local radio stations which may be entertaining (or the worst experience your ears have had in quite some time)

I love to play some nice upbeat music which I can sing along to. Podcasts also work great as they definitely keep you thinking (and alert).

Make some plans but be flexible The very last thing you want on your road trip is a strict schedule involving driving for hours at a time with the only breaks being to obtain more gas, red bull, and doritos. Make sure you have sufficient time to stop and take a look at cool things along the route or follow signs to interesting detours.

Cruise Control isn't necessarily your friend Sure it's nice to set it, place your feet up and enjoy the drive but cruise control will never be all its cracked up to be. I discovered that while cruising I got bored/tired quicker which led to more efforts to wake myself up. You are able to only do the head out the window, self face slap, and 5 second blink so often before they stop working.

However, it's nice put it on and give your feet a stretch once in a while.

Free Wifi If you have to access the internet for work or if you just want to update your Facebook with many of the sweet road trip pics you will need to look for access to the internet. If your road trip is in North America then free wifi is just about everywhere. Every Mcdonalds and Starbucks I've been to has free wifi that you can tap in to merely by sitting outside in the car and booting up your computer. Lots of hotels/motels include free internet access (sometimes you need a code but sometimes it is possible to just park there and obtain access to their signal)

Master the powernap If your roadtrip is long and your time is short then you definitely will want to be sure you can take advantage of the time you will have to sleep. In case your someone who can fall asleep anywhere then great. In case your not, it is advisable to practice. You may also be able to exhaust yourself to the stage where it's simple to fall asleep.

So these are my 6 tips for road trip awesomeness.I really hope they've helped you . Remember to be sure you are ready for the trip before you start.Make a packing list and get everything ready beforehand. This will ensure a smooth, fun, and pleasant trip.
