Vacationing In The Amazon Jungle In Brazil

By Valeria Mariano

The Amazon is not surprisingly the world's biggest eco-system. The location of Amazonia, the proper label of this zone, contains the most contrasting group of flora and fauna on the globe. As much as 20% of all the globe's species are found in the vast rivers and woodlands of the Amazonia. The normal way to refer to this whole location is basically: The Amazon. Most international visitors and their acompanhantes voyage to this location either from Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.

The Amazon River is the second largest river on earth (just behind the Nile in Egypt) and simply happens to go through the region of the Amazonia in Brazil. The river is formed at the intersection of Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes. At this location, accurately branded, Meeting of the Waters, the dark colored waters of Rio Negro merge and combine with the clay-colored waters of Rio Solimoes. The result can be superbly appreciated right in front of a visitor's eyes, and is definitely one of the primary highlights of the region.

The Amazon's amazing dimensions has baffled the intellects of countless adventurers and explorers, rendering rise to as much myths and legends, including those of giant sloths and loving dolphins. Fantastic projects to take control of and make money from this natural wonder, from Henry Ford's efforts to tame the wild rubber trees to Brazil's Finance Minister Delfini Neto's attempts to pay off the countries' foreign debt through profit from the Amazon, have all ended in failure, and have supplied this magical and steaming green land the other name of "Green Hell."

A good way to experience the rainforest with your acompanhante is through living in it. Unlike flats or apartments in rio de janeiro, Eco Accommodations are specialized hotels which provide an exceptional opportunity, with a multitude of possibilities hinging on how crazy or "uncivilized" you want to be.

Like rio apartments and hotels, several Eco Lodges are available fully furnished with pools, air conditioner and also phones. Others are closer to the land, both literally and figuratively, and provide you with a feeling of the immensity of the rainforest warmth, dampness, mosquitoes and all.
