Crucial Things To Look Out For When Buying Used Cars

By Ian Scottsman

When you are looking to buy a car on a small budget, you can always consider used cars. Often you can find many vehicles in this category that are in excellent conditions but you will have to look at many bad ones first. For this reason, you should take you time and inspect every vehicle carefully before buying one.

When you look for a second hand car, one of the first things to check is its service history. This will give you a better idea of whether or not the car was serviced at regular intervals and what the running condition of the vehicle is. A complete service history is often a good indication that the car is mechanically sound.

The body and paint work of the vehicle is also something that must be carefully inspected. F the body work is uneven or the paint differs slightly in shade or color, you can be sure that the car was involved in an accident or bumped and was repaired.

Also open the hood and take a look at the engine. Make sure that there are no parts missing and that the engine is clean. If the engine is dirty and there are puddles under the front of the vehicle, it means that the engine is leaking, water, oil or fuel.

While inspecting the car, get inside and check the condition of the interior, Things to look out for are any broken or loose switches or buttons, the vehicles mileage as well as any tears, cracks or burn marks in the upholstery or panels.

The final step when purchasing used cars is to take the vehicle for a test drive. While driving the car, you can check if the transmission is smooth and whether or not the engine is sound. A few other things to check while on a test drive are the brakes, lights, windshield wipers and electronics.
