Virginia Beach Fishing Charter: Put Adventure Into Your Striped Bass Fishing Trip

By Kenny Murray

Virginia Beach fishing charter businesses are just one of the many resort and adventure type activities available in and around the city of Virginia Beach. The resort city sits at the junction of the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay. The whole area is noted for awesome fishing opportunities, including catching the striped bass trophy fish that weigh as much as fifty pounds.

If you are considering a fishing adventure, make certain that you go with a reputable charter boat and crew. You may enjoy the experience of being on the ocean, but you will be even more excited when you bring home some trophy size catches. Experienced charter captain know the waters and are able to get you to the right location.

The fish are available year round in the Bay and in the waters off the mouth of the Bay. All during the year you can ask the charter captain to take you to where there are bluefish and flounders. No matter what you want to snag on your fishing tackle, be sure to plan your trip in advance with the charter company. They will have good ideas about some types of charter opportunities that will be fun for you.

The most well-known summer fish is the tuna. They are found in the deep waters of the ocean and are also found closer to the coastline during the fall months of the year. Charter fishing vessels nowadays have modern technology to help in the search for tuna. The captain can access satellite shots to actually see where the tuna are swimming. Charter fishing can so bring in sharks, trout and marlin.

Fall and winter months provide a different group of fish to catch. The most notable is of these is the striped bass species. As the waters of the Bay cool, more of these twenty- to fifty-pound trophy sized fish congregate in the waters near the Bay Bridge Tunnel. During January and February, the striped bass move south into the coastal waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Charter trips may be scheduled for half days, full days, or even longer in with some charters. In most cases, all equipment and supplies will be provided for you. Prices vary according to the length of the trip, the type of accommodations, the distance from shore and the level of technical expertise provided by the captain and crew of the vessel. Charter trips can be expensive, but devoted deep water anglers will assure you that the price is worth it, especially if they get to pose with their trophy-sized catch when the boat returns to the dock.

All reputable businesses, including charter boats need licenses, credentials, inspections in place and accurate. The safety equipment must be readily available and in sufficient supply to equip all members of the passengers and crew. The success of the trip will be due to a good catch of fish, but also to the enthusiasm and support of the staff.

You may routinely charter a boat to go out on the waters of the Bay or your trip may be a once in a lifetime experience. The care and concern exhibited by the crews of Virginia Beach fishing charter boats make each trip uniquely enjoyable. Not only is there the possibility of bringing home record fish, but you can enjoy the ocean trip coming and going to the fishing area.

Why Your Favorite Angler Will Know What To Look For What To Look For In Fishing Rods

By Jeremy Pabloccis

If you are looking to buy one of the many fishing rods, that are out there on the market for that person in your life. It is important that you are aware of the type of fishing that is going to be done with the rod.

With all the various types of fishing rods, each with their own categories of styles and lengths, it would be wise to find out the type of fishing and what type of fish they will be trying to catch with the rod.

If you are looking for a good all around type of spinning rod that will do well in both fresh and salt water, you should remember that this type of rod should be about five and a half to six and a half feet long. It also should be able to cast out one quarter ounce, three eighths ounce, or half ounce bait and/or lures.

If you know that the angler in your life would prefer a rod that is made of graphite, you will need to know that it should be a high modulus type. This will ensure that the rod is stiffer per ounce of the rod which will be a much stronger rod in the end.

As for the handle of fishing rods, a lot of experts say that the best type of handle would be the cork handle. Cork handles are far more sensitive at detecting when your bait is being targeted by nibbling or soft biting fish. Cork handles do have a tendency to wear out and chip away so if you are concerned with that you might want to look into getting one that has a foam handle.

Make sure that the blanks of fishing rods go all the way through to the handle. This is important because this will make the handle even more sensitive. To ensure the highest sensitivity, it is always a good idea to get a rod with a split grip that exposes some of the blank.

Guides on fishing rods are another important feature you should be aware of. If you have cheap guides and not ones that are strong and made of good quality stainless steel, you will run into the problem of rust and breakage. This will lead to damaging the line and a poor cast off.

Although the multi-section fishing rods are great for the traveler because they save on space, for the avid fisherman, this just may not be something that would interest them. A multi-section fishing rod loses some of its sensitivity as compared to a single section fishing rod.

One of the most popular fishing rods on the market today would be the Shakespeare Ugly Stik. This is an extremely solid and reliable rod that has been an anglers favorite for 25 years. This is a good fishing rod for any level of angler. The core of the Ugly Stik is made of high grade graphite and then it is encased in fiber glass. It is a very strong rod and has quite a bit of sensitivity for the angler that is looking for a sensitive rod.

Another good rod on the market would be the Okuma Guide Select. This particular rod is made of solid graphite which makes it light and more sensitive than the Ugly Stik, which will make the more experienced angler happy. The handle is made of a top grade cork adding more sensitivity to the rod. People are often surprised that such a light rod has so much power when reeling in their fish. Very good medium priced fishing rod.

Get Your Seadoo Ready For Winter With A Seadoo Cover

By Josh Brodderick

I am a huge pwc fan, so every chance I get I try to let other pwc owners know that if you are skimping on your choice of seadoo covers, then you are doing a dis-service to your pride and joy, and will inevitably shorten the the lifespan of your water craft in more ways than one. In addition to potential functional damage caused by exposure to the elements, you will also allow cosmetic damage to your pwc as well.

Making sure you use some sort of cover to protect your pwc is one part of keeping your seadoo in the best shape possible for as long as possible; but the other part of keeping your watercraft in great shape is making sure that you properly prepare your pwc before putting it away for any length of time. Periodic maintenance will keep things running smoothly, but you need to pay special attention to fixing problems and preparing your seadoo for storage in order to keep it looking and running like brand new.

There are many things you must do to 'Winterize' your pwc (you will want to follow this same procedure any time your pwc will be out of use for an extended time, even if it is not winter). These include at a minimum: getting rid of any salt and dirt, including from the cooling system, stabilizing the fuel, lubing any cables and lube spots, protecting any rubber or vinyl parts, and removing the battery. Once all the routine storage tasks have been done, fix any broken parts or nagging problems (cracked or waterlogged dials) so they won't be issues for next season. Finally, once everything is ship-shape, cover your pwc with an appropriate cover that will adequately protect your pwc while it is stored.

When you are trying to choose a seadoo cover that will properly protect your pwc, it's important to consider the conditions you'll be storing. If you have the unfortunate luck to have to store your machine outside, then you will want to be extra careful in the cover you choose and how your machine is prepared. In this case, you may opt for a full wrap rather than a cover, since this will offer the maximum protection, although it is not re-usable.

If you intend to store your seadoo in a storage facility or in your garage then a fair weather cover will suffice. Fair weather covers are just like the cover you would use to protect your seadoo will on a trailer or to protect your seadoo from the sun and rain.

When I pick out a new seadoo cover, I make sure that I get one that suits my particular machine. I just like to have a cover that matches my pwc. Others may not be so picky, but I figure that for the amount that I spend on my seadoo, the investment in a fancy seadoo cover is pretty minimal, but it shows my seadoo off just as much as when it's not covered.

If you respect your passion for seadoos then you need to treat your machines with respect. Choose a seadoo cover that is right for your needs and you will not regret it.

Terminal Tackle Is Anything Tied To A Fishing Line

By John Miller

Basically anything tied to the end of a fishing line is referred to as terminal tackle. However this term traditional applies to sinkers, floats, swivels, and other fishing implements that are designed to provide the bait to the game fish. There are many items that fall into this category of tackle ranging from fish hooks to rigs.

One of the largest sections of terminal tackles if fish hooks. Hooks come in many different sizes and styles. A fish hook consists of a shank and a shaft, the shank is the gap between the shaft and the bur, or tip of the hook. The size of a hook pertains to the size of the shank. A shaft is the main body of the hook and is the part that is typically described by the style of the hook.

All hooks are rated by a number the number pertains to the size. The larger the number the smaller the hook. This system starts with the number 22 which is a tiny hook that is used for flies. The other end of the scale is the fractional numbers such as 1/0. Once the sizes go to zero, anything larger than a zero is written as a fraction over zero. The largest hook you will typically find is a 10/0, this size hook is used for very large game fish and may hold fish up to the size of a large shark.

All hook sizes may vary in the length of the shank. Each size of hook has a standard size of a shaft, if the shaft is larger or smaller it will be written as an xshorter or an x longer. In other words if there is a 6x2 short, this will imply that the hook is a size 6 with a shaft the size of a size 8 hook. Along this same manner if the hook says 6x2 long then it means that the shaft of the size 6 hook is the size of a 4 hook.

There are also different styles of hooks, each designed to have a specific purpose. There are some styles of hooks that may have a curved shaft while others may have a wide gap. You may also find some hooks that have a small coil on them. The coil is engineered to hold bait in place on the hook.

Different styles of hooks have specific purposes. One example is the Aberdeen hook, which is intended for freshwater applications such as live bait fishing for Bream or Bass. This style of hook has a round bend light wire hook with a slightly turned in point.

Another popular style of hook is the egg hook. This hook has a short shank and contains a wide gap. An egg hook is intended as the name implies, to be used for fishing with eggs such as salmon eggs. This type of terminal tackle m may also be used for bread balls or corn.

These hooks are just two examples of a large variety of hooks that are available for specialty fishing. Hooks are but one style of terminal tackle that is used for fishing. Terminal tackle is typically hooks, sinkers and other times but it can imply anything tied to a fishing line.

Night Vision Goggles For Sale At Retailers

By Georgia Jackson

Night vision goggles for sale are a real testament to how far technology has come. Previously night vision goggles were for military or police personnel only because of their high price and the advanced technology used to make them, today you can find them at just about any store that sells sporting goods or outdoor gear. And even department stores carry them as well. Seeking out the perfect pair to invest in can be a little testing, however, so don't jump on the first or cheapest ones you come across.

Any hunter or fisherman who wants to do their respective activities after the sun goes down can do so with a pair of night vision goggles. Without night vision goggles, these things would be virtually impossible for many. Every outdoors man knows what it is like to come up on a good fishing spot or prey and end up scaring them off because of a flash light. The sense of accomplishment that can come from successfully pulling off anything in the complete darkness is not even measurable.

Are you looking for some night vision goggles for sale for your own use? If so, any sporting goods or outdoor activity shop will be able to provide you with what you are looking for. Sporting goods stores usually have a much better selection than they would at a department store. If you happen to come across some night vision goggles that you like write down the model, as well as the brand name. Hold off on buying it for now you need to make sure you're making a good purchase before actually diving into it.

Next go online and do a Google search for night vision goggle reviews and see what comes up. You can get some real valuable insight from people just like you. This is especially great if those people need them for the same purposes as you as well, so you can really apply their experiences to your decision. Once you have read some in depth reviews, forget the model you were interested in at the store and do a separate search in the price range that you are hoping to stay within. After you have done this, you can determine whether the model and the price at the sporting goods store is worth your money.

In all reality, you can probably find a pair of night vision goggles rather easily. Almost any department or specialty store has them in stock, and there are hundreds of online retailers offering them. But finding a pair or night vision goggles for sale that are of high quality can be a pain, and finding one that doesn't have a sky high price is even more difficult. Try not to jump on the first ones you come by. Doing some research can ensure that you do not waste your money, and that you will be picking up a good pair. Night vision goggles are too expensive and indispensable to make a mistake with, even once.

What Lengths Do Bowie Knife Blades Come In?

By Dylan Sabot

Bowie knives have been renowned or more than two centuries, thanks to their versatility, durability, resilience and tremendous power. However, if you are in the market for a new knife, you will need to know what length blade to look for. What lengths are bowie knives traditionally? What other lengths are these blades available in? What is the right length for you?

Smaller bowie knife blades, such as the four to six inch range are perfect for most utilitarian tasks and make wonderful all around knives. These are small enough that they are not conspicuous when worn, and are still large enough that you can use them for a variety of different needs. Whether cleaning a fish or slicing rope, these are excellent blade lengths.

Six to Eight Inches - Six inches seems to be the magical number. This blade length is long enough for a wide variety of different tasks, but is not too long for tasks such as cleaning and gutting fish, skinning game or whittling. However, you will find that blades with this length blade are not the ideal solution if you intend to chop things with them (bone, sinew, muscle, wood, etc). For jobs such as this, you should opt for something a bit larger. The eight-inch range is an ideal option for those seeking personal protection, while still ensuring that they can make use of these blades for utilitarian purposes.

The largest range of blade sizes for a bowie knife is between twelve inches and about two feet, though you will find custom blades that surpass this mark. As a note, the larger the blade, the more difficult it is to use in everyday situations. However, they do make ideal solutions for areas where machetes or hatchets have been traditionally used.

Blades larger than about twelve inches are a bit more unwieldy than smaller blades are. However, they are ideal for heavy chopping and can even be used to clear brush in a pinch. However, because of their immense size, carrying these blades can be a bit difficult though you will find that they are more than eye-catching when worn.

Bluefin Tuna Fishing 101

By Bart Icles

One of the biggest challenges that anglers face is catching bluefin tuna. Nevertheless, many people remain interested in bluefin tuna fishing and lots of them go out to sea each year to try their luck in catching this prized species of fish. The most popular fishing spots for bluefin are in New England, particularly in Massachusetts. If you are looking for giant bluefin tuna, then you should head to the waters of this beautiful State.

While it is relatively difficult to catch bluefin tuna, anglers or fishing enthusiasts are not discouraged by this fact because catching this kind of fish can bring in great rewards. Not only does this fish have savory meat, it can also grow to significantly large sizes. If you are interested in bluefin tuna fishing, you will need to learn how to chunk or troll for this kind of fish. Chunking and trolling are the two most common ways of catching bluefin tuna.

Chunking involves anchoring around a good fishing spot for bluefin tuna. Once you have anchored on a good fishing spot, you will then need to deploy chunks, live baits, and stick baits suspended on balloons or buoys at different depths. Some anglers use fish finders to determine the depths at which to suspend chunks and baits. Take note that you should use hooks that are proportional to the baits that you are using so your hooks can blend well with your baits.

Bluefin tuna fishing also typically involves trolling. Trolling simply means suspending spreader bars from outriggers and dragging them in the water at speeds of about three to four knots. Most anglers troll with three to four spreader bars arranged in W-shaped fashion. Anglers use spreaders of different sizes and colors based on weather conditions and experience.

If you are planning to head out to sea to catch bluefin tuna, it is important that you take note of the weather conditions. Just like any other tuna, bluefin prefer to feed in warm waters and late in the afternoon. Once you are out at sea, try to be observant of the things that happen around you. Fishing birds indicate that there are schools of fish near the surface of the water and where there are schools of fish, bluefin tuna are likely to be within the area as well. To be successful at bluefin tuna fishing, it would be best to master the basics of fishing for tuna. And remember, more than just luck, successfully catching bluefin tuna also takes a good deal of experience.

Does Carrying Bowie Knives Require a Permit?

By Dylan Sabot

Before you purchase that bowie knife, you might have a few questions that you want answered. One of the most frequently asked questions about these knives is whether or not you need a permit to own one. Do you have to have a permit if you keep your bowie knife at home? Do you need a permit if you will use it on a hunting trip? These questions are vital, but the answers might be far from enlightening.

Bowie knives are rather special cases in many states. You'll find that quite a few southern states still have laws on the books that cite these as "illegal" weapons. That means that you cannot carry them openly or concealed outside of your home. However, many other states do allow you to carry these knives without a permit. No states require that you have a permit to carry one on your person in an unconcealed capacity, though (in those states where these knives can be carried in public).

In Your Vehicle - Most states in the US allow you to carry a weapon such as bowie knives in your vehicle, so long as they are in plain sight. This means they need to be out in the open, resting on the seat of the vehicle. If it is hidden, obscured, or stored in the glove box or under the seat, the situation becomes very different. This is considered a concealed weapon and most states have very specific laws regarding concealed weapons.

In Public - While you might see nothing wrong with strapping your knife to your belt and heading into town, your local law enforcement might think differently. Before you do this, make sure you check your local laws governing blade length. Some states, such as Kentucky, allow you to carry fixed blade knives such as bowie knives in public, so long as they are visible. However, other states frown on bowie knives, balisongs and other knives and prohibit them from being carried in pubic, even if they are in plain sight.

As you can see, while you don't have to have a permit to own bowie knives, you do have to take care to ensure that you remain on the right side of the law when carrying and using these tools. A little research can go a long way here.

Get The Right Pike Fishing Lures When You Go Pike Fishing

By Frances Waterman

A species generally encountered in the northern fresh waters of the globe, pike is a favorite catch for many hobbyists. The maximum length one such fish can reach is 1.83 meters and its weight can go up to 35 kilograms.

Many people who are taking fishing as a sport know that some pike fishing lures and other items of equipment are necessary for catch. Yet, you may have all the accessories possible and still be unsuccessful if you know nothing about the feeding habits and the specifics of the species.

All the baits and lures take their inspiration from the fish diet. Pike feast on shoal fish and they sometimes prey on their smaller kin. Insects, amphibians and even ducklings are part of the menu if there is nothing better to find.

As for pike fishing lures, they split into four main groups, spoons, spinner baits, swim baits and live fish. Spoons work great for pike because these curious fish will be attracted by the chaotic, trembling movement of the lures. These are also preferred by anglers because they can hook up the fish better than with other lures.

The second type of pike fishing lures, spinner baits, are also very simple to use and widely used by hobbyists. To make sure that the pike really bite, it is advisable to use large spinners and not small versions. More experienced fishermen advise for a trailer hook to be attached so that fish may get indeed caught even if the bite is shorter.

Swim baits are another option of pike fishing lures that you can try. Usually made of plastic, these items have a major downside: the lure gets damaged when the fish bites and you have to replace it every time .

Live fish will definitely be the traditional or classic variant of pike fishing lures. Depending on the type of pike one intends to catch, any of the food sources mentioned above are a good choice for lure, especially minnows that work pretty well with smaller pike.

Among the many piece of equipment and accessories that an angler needs for a fishing vacation, pike fishing lures are quite various and may pose difficulty in choosing.

Those who have very little experience with fishing should get well informed on what materials and equipment items to bring along, if they are keen on catching something.

Tips For Success - Bass Fishing With Live Bait

By Veronica Carrillo

For many anglers throwing lures or waving feathers in the air, simply isn't the best way to catch fish. Sure, lures and flies are effective fish catching tools; it's just that bait seems to be more effective in many situations. I have personally been fishing with bait for more than 25 years and in this article I will outline 3 fishing bait tips that will make anyone a more effective angler anytime that bait, especially live bait, is employed.

During the 1970's decade, the spinnerbait became very popular. Many professional bass tournaments were won with spinnerbaits. Rick Clunn, Tommy Martin, and Jimmy Houston, to name a few, gained fame by tossing spinnerbaits to shoreline cover. This popularity has lead to the many innovative designs that we have available for us today.

The bass jig is another piece of fishing tackle I never leave home without, small in size but big on presence when fishing for bass. By it self or with a trailer keep an assortment of these on hand, they are great for fishing around rock piles and ledges and should be in every tackle box.

Spinnerbaits come in all sizes (1/8oz. - 1oz.), shapes, and colors, as do the spinner blades. How do you choose the right spinnerbait? Let's keep this as simple as possible. If you fish in clear water most of the time use a smaller lure with smaller blades. If you fish in water that is colored or stained use a bigger lure with bigger blades. Another determining factor is the season. Switch the size with the season. Use smaller lures in the spring. Use bigger lures in the fall. The most common sizes are 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 ounce. The 3/8 oz. size is the most versatile and I use this size most of the time. I will go to 1/2 oz. if it is windy. I try to pick spinnerbaits that have medium sized, willow leaf blades. I primarily use only two colors depending on the time of day, white/chartreuse during daylight, and black in low light conditions.

The swimbait is another top choice for bass, having the appearance of a minnow or other small fish swimbaits are just natural bass attractors, highly effective for catching the elusive trophy bass, don't leave home without at least one.

I have been bass fishing for over 25 years, and I have been fortunate enough to go bass fishing on some of the best bass fishing lakes in the midwest and southeast like Lake Eerie, Lake St. Clair, Grand Traverse Bay, Douglas Lake, Lake Jocassee, and Lake Norman to name a few. However, most of my fishing is done on the small lakes, rivers, and ponds of northeastern Indiana.

The Basics of Tuna Fishing

By Bart Icles

It can be quite rewarding to go tuna fishing, especially during summer. This form of sport and recreation not only gets you in touch with nature but can also provide you with a great meal or additional income. Let us face it, tuna is one most sought after species of fish because of its palatable meat and large size. Not only that, tuna fish also look great as trophies. However, catching tuna fish is not all too easy at all. In fact, if you are able to catch more tuna than the others do, you can easily become their envy.

While it is true that a bit of luck and lots of experience can give you an edge when fishing for tuna, successful tuna fishing also involves mastering basics of fishing for this kind of fish. It is important that before you head out for the docks, you should arm yourself with the right kinds of information about fishing for tuna. And it is not enough that you know them, you must be able to understand them.

One important thing you should do before you head out to sea to catch some tuna is to do your homework. Ask around and gather information on recent tuna fish counts in your area as reported by fishing boat or vessel captains. Also, try to gather information on popular fishing locations that have been producing numerous fish catch. You would also want to know the current surface temperatures so you can determine if it would be the perfect time to catch tuna fish. And of course, watch out for those thunderstorms that can potentially hit your area.

You should also keep your eyes on your surroundings. There are times when you think it is a bad day to go tuna fishing and then take back what you have said because you have spotted a good school of tuna fish underneath seaweed lines or floating debris. Other signals worth looking into include jumping fish, diving birds, and other fishing boats at full stop.

It is also important that you do not scare fish away when you are out for a tuna fishing day. Some anglers or fishing enthusiasts make the mistake of going out to sea as fast as they can, hoping to catch schools of tuna fish while they are feeding on other fish. These people often end up scaring the fish away. It is best to main speeds between 6 to 9 miles per hour while trolling for tuna fish.

For A Relaxing Holiday - Go Carp Fishing In France

By Henry Dolan

France has developed into an excellent carp fishing destination thanks to its thousands of lakes and well maintained carp stocks that could produce catches notching up to 50 to 60 pounds. The sheer large sizes of the carp would be highly demanding on your equipment and hence it is recommended by carp fishing veterans that a two and three fourths test curve rod or higher and baitrunner reels are definitely needed.

The Shimano 8010Gt baitrunner reels are recommended despite there being some more modern alternatives available in the market. Big pit reels that hold a lot more line than normal are used by a few people who venture over the deeper waters where getting to the carp habitat would need more line.

Many carp fishing lakes around France do not let you use braid and the best alternative would be to use monofilament lines which are also ideal for carp fishing. Many carp fishing lakes across France have their own rules and regulations and you should take every care of these rules and regulations to make the most out of your holiday of carp fishing in France.

Starting from the type of tent you can use to the bait on your line, there are a whole load of rules and regulations in terms at any lake in France that offers carp fishing. Checking ahead of your visit would be a great idea as it would not only save on a lot of last minute pondering over what is right and give you a good time carp fishing in France.

While tiger nuts and some types of ground baits are not allowed in most lakes, it would be wise on your part if you did some research before setting out on your visit to a lake. Just bring every thing if you are not sure and you can abandon a piece of equipment at your accommodation if it is not allowed and take it back on your return journey. Of course, bring a mobile phone which would come in very handy.

Although you would want to do all your vacation planning yourself, it is wise to check on some planned package deals that many lake clubs offer starting from planning your accommodation to your flight and equipment made available locally so that you need not bring anything along. These packages do cost a little more than your own planned visits though.

Carp Fishing In France

By Harry Dunbar

France is a popular carp fishing destination for anglers who head straight for the rivers, lakes, and of course the coastline. For the dedicated angler, there are plenty of places in the country to enjoy a good catch. Many carp lakes such as L'Etang de Tricherie and Rainbow Lake boast of 40 lb. plus carps.

These privately owned fishing lakes offer boats on hire. Cretelakes stocks over 400 carp and offer a variety of travel & food packages. At lakes such as Brittany Mill Lakes and Bills Lake, anglers are allowed to use their own boats or hire one.

Privately owned fishing lakes usually take care of license requirements as long as you have booked in advance. For carp fishing in public lakes and local rivers, you need to get a permit from local newsagents for around 7 Euros a day. A 2 week permit would cost you 30 Euros.

If you plan to visit the place frequently then look for an annual permit. Boats are allowed in most areas, however, you may need to have a license apart from your fishing permit, so check with the local authorities. Echo sounders or fish finders are not allowed so be careful not to use one.

For a great carp fishing experience you ought to head down to rivers such as the Seine, Marine, and Sane. Apart from privately owned lakes, night fishing is not allowed in many places in France. Fishing is permitted from half an hour after sunrise, while you need to wind up half an hour before sunset. Certain areas along the rivers Seine, Mosselle, Rhone, and Madine permit night fishing.

Lake Dijon is popular for 30lb plus carp, and has the distinction of the heaviest catch at 89lb, all thanks to the climate and size of the lake. Others areas with a large population of carp include Reims, Bordeaux, and Brittany. Tackling these big fish requires anglers to have some real good pieces of equipment. Baitrunner reels and a 2 curve rod are essential.

A big pit reel that holds more line will help when you need to fish at a distance from the river bank. Several carp fishing lakes don't allow braided fishing lines, so even if you are a diehard backer of braided lines, the best option is a monofilament line. As far as bait is concerned, some lakes allow only specific types of bait, so check first before you pack your fishing bag. Certain ground baits and tiger nuts are not allowed as bait.

Prior to setting out on your fishing trip, it would be sensible to check out all the details. More so, if you aren't heading down to a privately owned lake. Some lakes only allow bivvys as shelters instead of larger tents. There are many carp fishing lakes in France that offer some exclusive holiday packages which include accommodation, fishing equipment, and transport in fishing areas such as Croix Blanche, Willow Lake, and Lake Juvanze. These come at a price so if you are on a budget you may want to make your own arrangements. Either way, you can look forward to an exciting carp fishing holiday. Happy angling!

The fish that you are going to be fishing for may need a certain test line or type of rod. You should talk to the captain about the type of fishing gear you will need to bring along including the bait. Some charter trip captains provide all the fishing tackle and bait that you will need. This would be included in your total price and would save you from having to pack so much.

The next step in planning your charter fishing trip is to get a total price and pay your captain a deposit on your trip dates so he will be assured that you are in earnest about your plans to be there. A lot of people will make these kinds of plans then leave the charter boat waiting when they could have arranged for someone else to take that spot. This will cause that captain to lose money. You will want to make absolutely sure the captain doesn't include any of these things before you pack them up to take with you onto the boat. If the case is that you will be taking your own fishing gear, talk to the captain about what kind of fish he thinks you will catch. This will help you in determining what kind of rod and reels to take. You should take a variety of test line and a couple of different rods as well.

Your food for the tip may be something that is provided by the captain. If not, then you need to put all your munchies and drinks into a cooler and take everything you are going to eat and drink like that. Some charter trips will allow a few alcoholic beverages to be drank while fishing. Talk to your captain about whether or not alcohol is allowed on is boat.

Some Virginia Beach fishing charter captains will have all your meals, drinks and snacks included into your total price. This would be the best trip, but if you have to bring your own food and drink, make sure to take a cooler. You will also need to ask ahead of time if alcoholic beverages are allowed on board as well.

You will absolutely love your Virginia Beach fishing charter excursion. Hope for good weather and plan ahead for the best fishing experience you could ever have.

Advance Your Likelihood: Trout Fishing Tips-Small Streams

By Ken Ayers

Many people love fishing. Whether it is the peace and quiet, gorgeous views, seeing wildlife or just getting the big one, fishing can be tricky. There are some trout fishing tips-small streams that are common sense approach to getting that fish and bringing it home. Most people love to eat fresh fish. There is not another taste like it.

Large rivers are not as abundant as small streams. Actually big rivers are formed by many small streams feeding into it. There are some tips to catching those fish in the streams. A majority of the people are used to fishing in larger venues like lakes.

When approaching the small stream, make sure you are slowly moving and not loud. Fish have a lot less room in a small stream. There are more conscious of their surrounding than fish in a big lake. Wearing muted colors that blend with the background is another good idea. Those fish will not see or hear you coming. Make that fish feel comfortable and he will probably try to take a bite at your hook.

Check out the surrounding before casting. Make sure you take into account any overhanging limbs. Decide should you cast back or just roll it. Just make sure to keep your equipment and not have it spend time up in a tree. Every small stream has different surroundings and terrain. The point is just to be aware.

Shorten your casting. This tip is so that your line does not overshoot your target or end up in a tree. Take a breath, take your time and decide what technique is best to cast. If in tight quarters it is not a good idea to back cast. You will snag the line. It is best to roll and cast it.

Most large fish like the deeper pools. Most fishermen know that tip but did you know that fish will move upstream or downstream to feed. Do not forget to look around. Be alert. The fish may be right next to your foot.

Pick a good spot. You do not have to stop at every spot that could have a fish. If it is heavily wooded, pass some up. Fishing is supposed to be enjoyable and a relaxing way to spend the day. Do not stress out that you cannot get the fish. Remember sometimes you catch them and sometimes you do not. The point is it gets very frustrating if you are constantly hanging up your line. Do not get fed up just find another spot that is clearer.

Fishing a small stream is different than larger rivers or lakes. It can be very productive. The fish will be yours for the taking. Chances are there will not be many people around you. Be alert of where you are, go slow and quiet. Wear clothes that blend in with the surroundings. Be patient and have a great time.

Reviewing the Eagle Cuda 300 Fishfinder

By Greg Holmes

If you are looking for a fish finder then it should have at least three basic features. It should tell you the temperature of the water, the depth of the water and give you a map of the bottom terrain for where you are fishing at provided it is not beyond its depth locator. These are three basic features just about every fish finder on the market now has and it is to be expected. Sometimes that is enough and sometimes you need something more advanced to help you hook that trophy fish. The Eagle Cuda 300 Fishfinder delivers some of those advanced features.

To be quite honest, the Eagle Cuda 300 Fishfinder is not the best fish finder on the market. It does have a limited depth and range for its sonar. But considering its price you do get the basics plus a little bit more. It is those extras that are fueling sales of this fish finder over comparative models.

Among the added features you get with the Eagle Cuda 300 is the power to see the distance downward of the fish. That's valuable because, when casting out your line and utilizing weights, you want to hit the perfect deepness for the particular fish you're looking for. The environment the Eagle Cuda 300 shows is rather thorough taking into consideration it is a lower end product. No, you will not have the ability to see that brush pile at the foundation of the lake that you could possibly get snagged on, but it does give you a view of a generalized topography.

The Eagle Cuda 300 also comes with another rather helpful characteristic. It allows you to view the screen even in bright sunlight. Numerous LCD screens are tough to read if sunlight is shining on them so this is something you ought to take note of.

The Eagle Cuda 300 Fishfinder is very reasonably priced. You can find it online at various websites for around $100, which puts it into the economical category. Though it is not going to give you the intricate details of the size of the fish or the type, it still does the job quite well. As a beginning fisherman, this is a good purchase because it gives you the basics plus a little bit extra. If you are a competitive sportsman or woman, you may want to go with a more advanced model.

Some Carp Fishing Bait Secrets

By Peter Hooper

If you're serious about landing a big one, then you need a proven and tested carp fishing bait. Bringing in one of these big fighters can be a thrill you never forget. People fish for them all the time just for that reason. They aren't popular for eating and most people shy away from it. But some people know that if you cut out the mud-line, which is an orange line down either side of the meat, you can eat a carp.

As far as bait goes, there are three main baits that we small town anglers have proven year after year to catch the big carp. In a small town like mine, we had nothing much else to do for entertainment but fish, so it's just part of our lifestyle. We soon learned what types of bait were best for whatever type of fish we were after on that particular day.

The first one of these, is commonly known around here as a 'dough ball'. We make these by submerging a cake of Shredded Wheat cereal in water, and then molding and shaping it in our hands until we have a round or oblong ball. Then we sink the hook into the center until it's totally covered, and cast it out as far as we can throw it. You may have to water it down a couple of times to get it to the right texture. You want it to hold its shape. If you happen to be chewing tobacco, spit some on your dough ball.

Most any angler, experienced or not, knows that worms are good fish bait. But the truth is, different worms are best for different types of fish. You have night crawlers, wigglers, stripers, and red-worms that all have their place and can be used for carp too. But I've found that the best worms for carp are green-worms. These worms can be found in the dark mud along the riverbank that looks like big cracked mud slabs. Trust me, you'll catch more carp with these than you will with any other type worms.

Carp fishing has always been a favorite activity around our town. Believe me, when you hook one of these big ones, you have a fight on your hands that you won't soon forget. They're strong fighters, and are one of the most fun to catch. There have been many 30 pounders caught around my area on the baits mentioned above. And finally we come to one more bait the carp just can't seem to resist.

The third bait is nothing more than canned corn from the supermarket. You just load a kernel at a time on the hook until it's covered. It can be a challenge to get one to stay on and cover the end of your hook, but it CAN be done. I can't tell you how many carp have been caught on corn. I can personally vouch for all three of these carp baits because I've used them since I was a small boy and had great success with them.

Now that you know some good carp fishing bait, then you need to get out there and test them for yourself. I'm sure you're going to find that what I've said holds true. Carp have a real hard time resisting these three baits, and you'll have a hard time resisting using them often once you give them a try. So good luck, and hope you catch some big ones

What are the Various Parts of Bowie Knives?

By Dylan Sabot

Bowie knives are fantastically versatile, enabling you to accomplish numerous different tasks with a single knife. However, what exactly are all the features of the blade used for? This can be hard to understand, as you'll find bowie knives with different features from another. Part of the confusion is simply due to the modern evolution of the knife, while other models try to remain historically accurate. Here are a few features that you might find and need to understand.

For instance, some knives include a saw-tooth edge along the spine of the knife. This is a modern development and hails from the Vietnam era military knives issued to helicopter pilots and foot soldiers alike. The saw teeth can help cut through wood, plastic and other materials, as well as being used for scaling fish or sawing through bone. However, novice users should beware these bowie knife models, as the saw can often get in the way of general use. Injury to the knife owner is not uncommon.

Another element of bowie knife design is the clipped point. In fact, if a knife claims to be a bowie, but does not have this distinctive feature, it is not a bowie knife. The clipped point was one of the original innovations that helped to cement this knife's reputation in the Western world. It allows immense control of the point during general use or during combat, and provides greater penetration when using the knife for stabbing. A sharpened false edge on the clipped point offers extra cutting power, as well.

Spanish Notch - Some bowie knife models include a Spanish Notch, while others do not. The true use of this feature seems to have been lost to the mists of time, but today, it serves as a guide to show where sharpening should begin. Some people attest that the notch was placed there to help catch an opponent's blade, but most collectors and historians are skeptical of these claims.

Guard - The guard, or quillions, of the blade serve several purposes, as well. You'll find that traditional blades have angled guards, with the upper guard angled forward toward the point and the lower guard angled back, toward the butt. These provide protection for the hand, as well as allowing the wielder to trap an opponent's blade (the upper guard only). The guard also serves to keep your hand from running off the handle and onto the blade when stabbing with the knife.

The Evolution of the Seadoo PWC

By Samual M. Adams

If you ever thought that a seadoo looks a lot like a snowmobile, you might have wondered if this was coincidental or not. The fact is, the inventor of the seadoo was a prominent player in the snowmobile industry, having many years experience in the production and evolution of the Bombardier snowmobile.

The Bombardier family name may be more commonly associated with the aeronautical industry now, but they got their start in snowmobiles. Their claim to fame was the introduction of the Ski-Doo brand of snowmobile, with the trademark black and yellow paint scheme. Having perfected a winter recreational vehicle for snow, it was only natural that this Canadian manufacturer make an attempt at creating a summer vehicle for water.

In the early 1960s, the first Seadoos were introduced to the marketplace. These machines were very popular and generated a lot of excitement. The concept of a snowmobile that operated on water sounded like a great idea. The idea generated a lot of excitement with boating enthusiasts all over North America. Sadly though, the first models brought to the market had problems with engines overheating and metal corrosion.

The first model was short lived, only lasting for 2 years before they were discontinued in order for redesign. Sadly, this process of re-design was pushed to a back-burner, and it wouldn't be until two decades later that another Sea-Doo was again marketed for sale. This time around, with newer technologies and materials, the new models were much more successful, and since the mid 1980s there have been new Sea-Doo models introduced almost every year.

The term Seadoo is now a brand name that refers to a number of different products. There are still the original "one person personal watercraft" available. However, there are a number of other watercraft products now available. Seadoo has brought larger personal watercraft to the market and now has a line of Seadoo boats.

The history of Seadoo development is long and colorful. There have been some false starts and some long absences. The modern name Seadoo brand is now a household name and is associated with a number of different products. There are personal watercraft and boats but there are also hundreds of other products such as boat trailers, t-shirts, and Seadoo covers.

Four Tips for Seadoo Safety

By Matt Allan

Imagine: blue sky, warm waters, a bunch of family and friends and a few PWC Seadoos. Sounds like the setting to s perfect summer day at the cottage. Personal watercrafts of all sorts provide for a lot of fun and laughs. The whole family can get in on the fun. If approached properly watercraft activities can be very safe. However, if proper care is not taken then something safe can turn into something dangerous. If you can keep four important tips in mind, you can increase your safety and the safety of your family.

Rule 1: Always wear a properly fitted and good quality PFD. This rule is critically important and cannot be ignored. You will see many people on Seadoos without proper lifejacket but they are being reckless and breaking the law. You will be able to work on your tan without the jacket once you get off the water.

Rule 2: Never mix alcohol with any type of water activity. Drinking and driving any motorized vehicle is against the law and is very dangerous. There will always be time to have a cold drink once you pull your Seadoo out of the water at the end of the day.

Rule 3: Never allow children to drive the Seadoo by themselves. It may seem innocent to allow an 8 year to take a little solo spin on the lake. It may, in fact, be harmless but it is very dangerous. A child can get him or herself into trouble very quickly. It is a serious mistake to allow children to be on the Seadoo on their own.

Rule 4: Towing someone behind a Seadoo is good fun. However, without a spotter towing is unsafe. The spotter must be an adult or an older child that is capable of watching the person being towed at all times. It is impossible for a driver to watch where he or she is going plus tow someone at the same time. That would be a terrible mistake. Always have a spotter when you wish to tow someone.

Seadooing is a fabulous pastime. As the years go by it is becoming more and more popular. It is a sport or a pastime that could become dangerous quite quickly. If you follow the rules as set out above, you should be able to enjoy a safe and wonderful Seadoo season.

Seadoo Covers Protect Your Investment

By Matt Allan

Seadoo covers are the next logical purchase after buying a new Seadoo PWC. After investing in the asset you would be well served to take steps to protect and preserve you asset. The regular use of a cover will keep your Seadoo in better shape. By taking care of your machine you will be increasing its lifespan. You will also be preserving the re-sale value in the event you might wish to sell at some point in the future.

The vinyl and rubber components of the Seadoo are particularly vulnerable to the elements. A proper fitting cover will protect against the elements during storage. The sun and rain are particularly rough on the vinyl seating. It is also important to be aware of the damage that can be caused during the winter by exposure to ice and the freezing and thawing process. Freezing and thawing is brutal on the rubber details on the handle bars and dash. Exposure to ice is the quickest way to cause a crack and that component will have to be replaced.

It is critical is use a cover when towing your PWC on the highway. It is almost equally important to use a cover on smaller dirt roads. While on a highway, a rock is bound to get projected towards your PWC. This rock might come from your own car or a passing car. Regardless of the size of the rock, the velocity with which it hits the Seadoo will cause damage. On smaller dirt roads, it is inevitable that many rocks will get kicked back. While the velocity of these stones and rocks is much less, the quantity means that you are sure to be nicked.

There are literally dozens of different types of Seadoo covers on the market. Some are model specific while others are a one size fits all sort of deal. Each year manufacturers bring more covers to the market. Each cover should have specifics on the Seadoo PWCs that it can be used for. If in doubt, try the cover on your machine before buying it. There are light weight covers for sun protection and heavy weight covers that are better for towing and winter protection.

If money is scant then consider a used Seadoo PWC cover. Although at one point a bit hard to find, there are now ads for used covers on electronic bulletin boards. Likely the best way to find a used cover is by word of mouth. Someone you talk to will likely know of someone that has an extra cover collecting dust in his garage. Word of mouth is often the best way to find the cheapest used Seadoo cover.

Be smart and invest in a proper Seadoo cover. The cost of a Seadoo cover is outweighed by the protection it affords your machine. Like any other asset, a Seadoo will last longer and stay in better shape if it is well cared for. Regardless of your budget, Seadoo covers are an essential part of Seadoo ownership.

What Can A Bowie Knife Cut?

By Dylan Sabot

Bowie knives are renowned for their versatility and their durability. However, if you're in the market to purchase a new blade, you'll likely want to know what bowie knives can and can't cut. What limitations are there to these knives? Actually, the limitations are created by the knife itself - its size, construction material and even the keenness of the edge will play a role in what you can and can't cut (or what you want to cut and don't want to cut). What does all that mean?

Why is there such a great disparity where the bowie knife is concerned? Actually, it boils down to the several different types of bowie knife out there. For instance, you will find smaller versions, as well as very large versions and everything in between.

Now, what do these factors have to do with your knife? Why can't a single bowie knife be used to cut through brush and then used to gut and clean that freshly caught fish? Why can't you slice a tomato into paper-thin pieces and then use that same knife to cut up kindling for the night's fire? Well, actually, you can. However, why would you want to? You will find that some bowie knife types are better suited to specific cutting tasks than are others. As an example, a larger bowie knife might be heavy enough and resilient enough to be used as a hatchet, allowing you to clear brush and even chop up small to moderate trees for the night's fire.

You'll find that knives made out of high carbon steel offer a better edge, which is ideal for areas where you need a very precise cut - say when skinning an animal, or butterflying chicken breasts. However, if you were to take that same knife and use it for hacking wood for the fire, you'll find that, while it works, your edge is dulled very rapidly. Therefore, the longer the blade is, the more ideal it is for cutting things like wood, bone or heavy muscle. Thinner, shorter blades are better suited to cutting things like skin, fat or for use in areas where precision is required.

How do you know what your bowie knife can cut? The trick is to buy a knife that is suited to your purpose. Knife blades that run in the middle ground can be used to cut a wider variety of materials, but you'll find that, while they are good "jacks-of-all-trades," they're not good for very specific tasks where a long or short blade should be used. So, the first trick is to buy a bowie knife that fits your needs. This will require that you know what those needs are. Of course, buying more than one knife to fill those needs is always an option, as well.

PWC Cover Shopping

By Dylan Brodderick

A very popular accessory these days for pwc owners are custom and custom-made pwc covers, tailored to perfectly fit the make and model of your personal watercraft. Nearly any type of cover required for your seadoo or pwc is obtainable from a quality custom cover shop, whether it is pre-manufactured by the dealer, custom designed as an aftermarket accessory, or individually custom designed and installed for your pwc or jetski.

Let's talk about what you have to worry about when you are looking for a pwc cover. First - choose a perfect fit. Why does it have to be 'perfect'? For one thing, it just looks better. Secondly, a tight fitting cover protects your pwc better, especially when trailering. There's nothing worse than a loose fitting cover whipping against your boat causing wear and tear, not to mention the possibility of the 'parachuting' effect causing a hazard to you and anyone following you.

Now, second to a tailored fit, material is probably the second most important factor when you are considering pwc covers. The material that is used will determine how well and for how long your cover will protect your boat.

Probably the most durable canvas covers are constructed using the Sunbrella brand of fabrics. Sunbrella is specifically engineered to be fade-resistant, and durable enough to stand up to severe sun and weather condition in the south. In addition to sun resistance, the material is woven which prevents build-up of moisture and heat, thereby preventing moisture and mildew damage. The woven material also adds resistance to tearing, shrinking, or mildewing of the cover itself.

The same principles of material selection and attention to precise fit will apply, whether you are looking for a pwc cover, sea doo pwc cover, Yamaha pwc cover, Kawasaki pwc cover, mooring cover, dodger, bimini, helm cover, or just about any manner of marine canvas cover.

An often asked question is whether you need to buy specific manufacturers brand covers made for your make and model, or if you need to go as far as having a custom designed cover for an exact fit. As it turns out, the pre-made options, whether it is from the manufacturer or a company specializing in custom covers, will often fit your watercraft the way they are designed to, ensuring maximum protection with an exact fit. Fortunately, this is usually cheaper as well. Take some time and look for some reviews about the cover manufacturer you are considering, especially if you are ordering online.

So now that you know the important things to watch for when looking for your sea doo cover, you can feel safe that you will find the best option to protect your summer lake toy. The only other thing you'll have to decide is whether that really awesome custom designed 3-d flame embossed cover is worth twice the price, but more importantly, whether they make it in a shred resistant breathable material.

Night Vision Goggles: Popular Article Guys Need To Read!

By Robert Stormony

When you watch a war movie you see soldiers wearing night vision goggles and they hunt down there enemies using the darkness as there cover. They are able to take out there enemies without so much as a problem.

There are various countries that actually consider the ownership of Night Vision Goggles highly illegal and against the law. There was a lady recently who was from Singapore and she purchased a pair for about $950 off the net. They arrived safely at her house despite going through customs.

Personally, I do not care that they did that but the point here is that in that country they are suppose to check the box of stuff as it arrives in there country and when seeing that it was Night Vision Goggles they should of checked the to see if she could legally own them or not. For example if they are of a military hardware status then she can't own them. If not, she can.

The lady was able to obtain Night Vision Goggles from an internet website that sold them without any problems. She had bought them for her boyfriend. He loved them and thought they were really cool to play with. But, soon he grew bored with his new toy and gave them back to her to try to sell on the net. She should not have any issues selling them since they are in high demand worldwide.

The model of Night Vision Goggles that she purchased were of high quality but the military grade of the night optics were not up to government standards so she is allowed to own them without a problem. When she received the package the customs department had not even inspected the box at all since it was still factory sealed.

Most countries consider night vision goggles a security threat to the country since they are meant for military missions to catch the bad guys. But you can still purchase them if you get permission from the police or local government agency in charge of this information.

Keep in mind that Night Vision Goggles would give the terrorists a slight advantage over some government agencies by being able to see them in the middle of the night and this may put there government offices and people working in them in jeopardy.

There are places such as Europe and the United States that allow you to own night vision goggles which are used for recreational uses such as taking photographs, exploring caves, camping, fishing, playing tag at night and many other fun activities.

Bimini Tops, Fishing Boats Along With Angling Information

By Neil Baulch

Your head may be shaking trying to figure out what a Bimini top is, but anyone that has been on a boat has more than likely been under one. That little cloth top that protects you from the rain and sun can be a lifesaver at times. Bimini tops are great accessories for any boat and if you don't have one, you may just think about making it yourself.

You can use a bimini top to cover your boat if it did not come with one. Even smaller fishing boats that are used for lake fishing can hold a bimini top. You can add one to your boat so rainy days are not going to keep you off the lake.

Larger boats can still benefit from a top to keep small children and those who are not supposed to be in the sun shaded. You can make one that is going to only partially cover a large boat. This is going to leave an area that is shaded and an area that is going to get full sun.

These tops will also offer shade in the hot days of summer and they are going to protect fishermen from getting sunburn. Sunburns are the leading cause of cancer, so this is a great way to keep from getting skin cancer as well. Those who want to be in the sun can sit outside of the top.

If you have been to the store and find that the cost of a Bimini top is a bit much for you, making one yourself is a very viable option. There are some great videos out on the market that will show you how to take some thread, metal poles and some fabric and turn it into a Bimini top that any boat show would be proud to sell.

Learning how to make a Bimini top on your own is much more affordable that paying the price that the stores are charging these days. Even if you make a few mistakes the first time around, it will be much cheaper to make another one than it would have been to buy one in the first place. However, with as easy as they are and as complete as the instructional videos can be, it is unlikely that you will have anything but success in your endeavor to make your own Bimini tops.

What Material Are Bowie Knife Handles?

By Dylan Sabot

Choosing a bowie knife will require that you make several choices. You'll have the choice of blade length, and even blade style. For instance, you might opt for the classic style blade, or you might go for an option that is derived from modern military designs. You will also need to choose from a wide selection of handle materials. What are bowie knife handles made of? What options do you have in the market? You'll find that quite a few different materials are used for this purpose.

You'll find that steel is one of the most commonly used materials for bowie knife handles. While metal handles are frequently added to "modern" evolutions of the bowie knife, you'll find some knives based on the original design that feature these types of handles. Metal is a good choice for excellent grip, for durability and for longevity. However, be aware that improper storage of bowie knives with metal handles can lead to rust in some cases.

You will find that bowie knives can also feature handles made out of metal. Steel is the usual choice here. You will also find that these handles are usually joined to bowie knives that feature more modernistic designs, such as those with saw-tooth edges on the spine of the blade. Of course, one of the best things about metal handles is that you do not have to worry about the handle wearing out over time, though corrosion can be a problem in some rare cases.

Composite - Composite handles are interesting options for your bowie knife. One example is called micarta, which is a trademarked material that is actually a composite of paper, canvas, linen, carbon fiber and several other materials. This has the benefit of being extremely lightweight and durable, as well as providing protection against rust and corrosion. Another benefit of composite materials is that they can resemble other materials, such as metal, wood or even bone, without the cost.

Other materials featured in the handles of bowie knives include leather, composite materials and even cloth (though specially treated and hardened). Your choice of handle material will determine how long the handle bears up, as well as how easy the knife is to grip and even quite a bit of how attractive that knife actually is.
