Seadoo Covers Protect Your Investment

By Matt Allan

Seadoo covers are the next logical purchase after buying a new Seadoo PWC. After investing in the asset you would be well served to take steps to protect and preserve you asset. The regular use of a cover will keep your Seadoo in better shape. By taking care of your machine you will be increasing its lifespan. You will also be preserving the re-sale value in the event you might wish to sell at some point in the future.

The vinyl and rubber components of the Seadoo are particularly vulnerable to the elements. A proper fitting cover will protect against the elements during storage. The sun and rain are particularly rough on the vinyl seating. It is also important to be aware of the damage that can be caused during the winter by exposure to ice and the freezing and thawing process. Freezing and thawing is brutal on the rubber details on the handle bars and dash. Exposure to ice is the quickest way to cause a crack and that component will have to be replaced.

It is critical is use a cover when towing your PWC on the highway. It is almost equally important to use a cover on smaller dirt roads. While on a highway, a rock is bound to get projected towards your PWC. This rock might come from your own car or a passing car. Regardless of the size of the rock, the velocity with which it hits the Seadoo will cause damage. On smaller dirt roads, it is inevitable that many rocks will get kicked back. While the velocity of these stones and rocks is much less, the quantity means that you are sure to be nicked.

There are literally dozens of different types of Seadoo covers on the market. Some are model specific while others are a one size fits all sort of deal. Each year manufacturers bring more covers to the market. Each cover should have specifics on the Seadoo PWCs that it can be used for. If in doubt, try the cover on your machine before buying it. There are light weight covers for sun protection and heavy weight covers that are better for towing and winter protection.

If money is scant then consider a used Seadoo PWC cover. Although at one point a bit hard to find, there are now ads for used covers on electronic bulletin boards. Likely the best way to find a used cover is by word of mouth. Someone you talk to will likely know of someone that has an extra cover collecting dust in his garage. Word of mouth is often the best way to find the cheapest used Seadoo cover.

Be smart and invest in a proper Seadoo cover. The cost of a Seadoo cover is outweighed by the protection it affords your machine. Like any other asset, a Seadoo will last longer and stay in better shape if it is well cared for. Regardless of your budget, Seadoo covers are an essential part of Seadoo ownership.
