If you are planning on a vacation for several days, you might as well plan for the security of your home. When burglars notice that no one is left inside your home, it might be their chance of getting inside and steal all your things. Here are some tips to throw off potential burglars from ransacking your home.
Make sure you have cancelled subscriptions from magazines and newspapers while you are away. There might be chances that burglars will be able to tell that you are away when all the newspapers are left outside your home.
Other than that, you can ask the neighbor to collect them for you in the morning. You can let your trusted neighbor pick up the mails you receive daily and get them when you get back from your vacation.
Never leave your home with your car. Burglars are wary that there are no people inside your home especially if there is no car in your garage. You can throw them off by either having someone drive you to the airport and leave your car or have a taxi come over.
Try to ask a friend if he can stay at your place for the time being. This will obviously help in the security of your home especially if there are important things that need protection. Having someone you trust over at your home while you are away puts peace on your mind.
Make sure that you plug off your landline and turn off your answering machine while you are gone. Having your answering machine on without anyone answering it will give burglars the idea that nobody is inside your home at the moment.
The less talk the less chances of you becoming the next victim. If you have plans on taking a trip to a tropical island, keep the plan to yourself and to your friends only. Do not talk about it in public places as someone might overhear you talking about it.
The most basic guideline to leaving your home protected is to have all windows and doors locked. All of your careful planning will go to waste if this basic rule is left unchecked.
