Vatican City is one of favorite destinations for many men and women, particularly for the Roman Catholic people, because it is central to some of the most important landmarks of their faith. This is basically because the city, which covers a huge amount of land, and has a lot of visitors yearly. Moreover, the city is one of the smallest independent states with a population of just about a thousand folks, having gained its independence from Italy in 1929. Vatican is also known as the Holy See, and has been the official household on the Pope for hundreds of years. Several of the important areas within this city include St. Peter's Basilica which is also the church of the pope, the papal apartments exactly where the pope resides and St. Peter's square.

Just like the many catholic faithful I also embarked on a pilgrimage to the Holy See where I got the time to experience some of the things that I had only seen on television for years. It was a truly rewarding journey because not only was I strengthened spiritually but also got to satisfy my curiosity. All visitors coming to Vatican access this city through the popular St. Peter's square. In my case I walked into the city using the Ponte St. Angelo Bridge, that led me to Satel St. Angelo that is strategically located outside Vatican City.

When it comes to accommodation and meals, I discovered it very handy to book a hotel close for the Vatican. The hotel had a magnificent interior, possibly because of the number of visitors that it receives at any time in the year. The lighting went pleasantly together with the furniture and other interior style accessories, thereby making a unique ambiance. The hotel was quite intriguing, as it had basic and delicate furniture, by the bed was a pair narrow bedside cabinets. For furnishings so straightforward they in fact made the room look really expensive and different. The chest of drawers were by contrast large. All of the colors of each the restaurant plus the hotel rooms had been warm, perfectly complimenting the serene atmosphere. As I was new to the city, I need to find a comfortable place where I could drink coffee, the elegant pine tables made me feel comfortable whenever I sat down to have a meal. I liked to sit a long time at the tables maybe read a newspaper.

The hotel was in a strategic location that I could easily access Vatican Museums, that is also the largest complex housing museums in the world. The Vatican Museums has over 1400 rooms. The Vatican Museums have museums as well as galleries that house art works that date back to over 3,000 years. The papal palace and the Sistine chapel are also located here. The Pinacoteca Vaticana that is found here, is also believed to have some of the best Renaissance works. There is also a Hall of Maps that contains murals of the old papal lands maps.

Owing to the enormous nature of the Vatican Museums, I had to decide on parts the itinerary in order to be able to see just about every detail of the museum although all of them end at the Sistine Chapel. The highlight of my trip towards the Vatican City was even so, attending Sunday mass at Saint Peter's Basilica exactly where I also notices Michelangelo's art operates like the Pieta. In summary, my journey to Vatican City was a terrific results as I not just got in touch with my religious side but in addition experienced other attractions.
