The Lightweight Fishing Tackle for the Heavy Weight Angler

By Jenny Romu

One of the most innovative and precise center pin fishing tackles is the J.W. Young and Sons Bob James Lightweight Fishing Tackle. The design of this center pin reel is a spoked one with two ball bearing racers where the spool runs. Despite of the fact that its design is entirely similar to an average pure center pin one, its particular construction makes it one of the best rods in the market at present.

The back plate of this fishing tackle is machine constructed, giving this equipment a lightweight feel. Also included in its features is a click check system and micro adjustable disc drag set-up. Unlike other fishing tackle designs with standard cages, the center pin of this rod does not have any of the normal cages with it. Weighing 200 grams in total, the rod has a diameter of 4" and a depth of 1". In terms of weight to power ratio, this reel is definitely one of the most efficient ones in the fishing tackle market.

All the fishing tackle reels have their own serial number and certificate of authenticity. This reel, despite of being high efficient has a dual bearings system that is very low maintenance and its body is also made of solid aluminum bar stock. The handles of this rod can be separated and it also has a radial lever system controlled on/off ratchet. This reel truly provides great efficiency when used in water and it was also anodized and simple.

This center pin has a quick release spool mechanism which offers great control of the line during the pull. This full system can carry a hundred yards of 20lb line together with 300yards of 8lb monofilament line with ease and great control.

The history of the maker of this fishing tackle is quite unique. James William Young who was born in 1870 in Redditch was the first owner of the company. His father was a fishing reel maker so he can be considered to have been literally born to do this job. After he finally learned the craft of fishing reel making, he started to recreate and develop long established designs which led to the creation of the Aerial reel. At 16, he created the smallest full working model bicycle with more than 400 individual hundred hand made parts. After some years, he became Allcock's supervisor for real production until he finally established his own shop. Since then, his two sons also joined in managing the family business which focused in manufacturing different fishing reel models for other fishing reel companies.

After a tragic accident, the elder statesman of the family passed away, leaving the business of creating top of the line reels and fishing tackles to the three sons. The Second World War forced the company to close shop but upon the war's end, one of the greatest innovations for a fishing tackle was made which was the Ambidex Reel. From there, the company has continued to reap more successes, making the best and most innovative designs for reels and tackles for the both professional and beginning anglers.
