How To Make Boilies

By Casper Vivianodeni

Perhaps one of the most well-known and types of fishing for anglers in the UK is carp fishing. If this type of fishing interests you, then you still have to acquaint yourself with the most important thing in carp fishing - boilies.

Bait boilies are boiled paste fishing baits, usually mixtures of fishmeals, milk proteins, bird foods, semolina and soya flour, which are coupled with eggs as a binding agent and then boiled to form circular baits which will last in the water.

These carp baits where first introduced in the 1970s by the inventor, Fred Wilton. And since then have become very popular because they can also stay longer in the water without fear that they had fallen off the hook, in the same way as bread or other traditional baits might.

Boilies come in so many colours, flavors, shapes and sizes from small ones to the biggest ones. They also come in a wide range of prices. If you are still not ready to shell out some cash for boilies, you can opt to make them on your own.

You first just have to create a paste by dumping 2 cups of any flavour of dry dog food in the blender. You have to blend the dog food until it turns to powder. You then add to the powder two cups of soy flour, semolina, rice or corn.

Then you'd have to crack 4 eggs into the blender and add 1 teaspoon of crushed pineapple. You blend all of these together and pour the mixture into a bowl. Continue mixing them and set this aside for five minutes until it becomes a paste. You can now gather a small part of the paste and form a ball between your hands. Do this until you are done with the whole paste.

Then you boil water in a pot and submerge the balls into the water and allow them to stay there for 2 minutes. Remove the boilies, and allow them to dry for about two hours. You are now already done making the boilies and you can keep them in a jar for future carp fishing use.
