When Bass Fishing You Need The Best Lures

By Chris Douglas

If you are bitten by the bass fishing bug, and want to increase your working knowledge of the sport, then the Internet is the place for you. Not only are there thousands of sites filled with interesting stories, information on bass fishing and the best lures to use, what equipment you should have, boats; there are also many sites on where to go to find the biggest bass, how to outsmart them, and how to plan a successful fishing trip. Take a few minutes and check some of these sites out.

Remember, you will catch nothing if you are not prepared and try to go bass fishing without the best lures for the occasion. If you are fishing in primarily deeper waters and lakes, you will probably do well with crank bait lures that work in most any depth, or pigskin jigs for the really deep waters. If shallower waters or surface fishing is your bag, then spinner baits and top water lures will work well. You need to gear your equipment toward the environment in which you will be fishing, or you won't have too much luck.

Tail spinners are great lures because they move in the water and create intense vibrations that the bass sense and immediately go for. Precision-tuned lipless crank baits also work really well when you are trying to pull the bass from their hiding places deep in the rock crevices because they also leave a wake of intense vibrations that the fish just can't resist; proving once again that for the best bass fishing, you need the best lures for the situation.

Another factor that is just as important in bass fishing as having the best lures, and that is making sure you have taken into consideration the colors in the lures that you will be using. Bass have a hard time resisting the brightly colored pigskin jigs and that combined with the vibrations that they put out, pull the fish out of hiding every time. Color is an important factor in catching bass and you should remember that if you are fishing on a bright day, then use light colors in the lures; and the reverse is also very true, that if the day is overcast, then use darker colors.

There are hundreds of types of lures out there on the market today, and a little research is needed if you are to become somewhat of an expert in bass fishing and know the best lures to use. People just learning the ropes are usually steered toward crank baits because they are easy to use and very effective because they resemble bait fish or crawfish. Spinner baits come in a variety of colors, resemble bait fish, and are used to capture bigger bass. Vibration lures are the tail spinners and crank baits among the many out there; a buck tail jig looks like a small food fish, and pigskin jigs are preferred for bottom fishing and look much like a crawfish.

Getting the right lures is important when you are getting started in bass fishing and learning the best lures, but you must be familiar with the area in which you will be casting your lines so you can make the best choices in what lures to use. What kind of fish frequent that area?----small mouth, large mouth, spotted bass?-----and how deep is the water, what is the motion of the water, how fast, and what will the weather be like? All these factors play important parts in deciding the success of your venture.

Bass fishing is a thrill for those participating because you have the beauty of the wild around you, the excitement of possibly hooking a trophy sized fish, and the ultimate heart pounding fun of the hooked fish fighting literally for its life on the end of your line making you use all the fishing skills you possess to capture that fish. As far as bass fishing is concerned the sky's the limit when you have the best lures you can find, combined with the thrill of the sport----there's not much that can beat it.
