No one tell you exactly why people develop fear of driving. As the sufferers are different individuals with different experiences. Their circumstances might not exactly match.
However, there are some elements that apply to almost each one affected. Getting to the roots of this phobia can be possible by focusing on these elements.
Car accidents top the list of reasons. The involved driver may decide never to drive again. Car accidents are horrible events to be involved in. the impact is much worse for people who happen to be inside of those vehicles.
It really does not matter if you were the guilty one or the victim. Victims involved in such accidents have to suffer through the pain of reliving those moments as the images of the accident keeps on being played in their heads. They become afraid of driving as they are fearful that they might end up in the same situation again.
People, who are responsible for those unfortunate events, are afraid that they might repeat the same mistake, and put others' lives in jeopardy.
The vehicles become a reminder of the traumatic events. They are constantly being reminded of what went wrong on the accident's day. Therefore, when they drive again, they under go tremendous anxiety, which can even end in a severe panic attack. Therefore, they start to shudder even at the thought of driving fearing that the same fate may befall them again.
Sometimes, the affected are even drivers. They are the people who were hit by a car or who were passengers of a car that was involved in an accident.
These events cause these people to abandon the idea of learning how to drive totally. They are afraid of the same thing happening again, which is not a very rational fear.
