Fear of driving can develop in just about anyone. It basically all comes down to the type of driving experience the people have had. Some people never get over the bad experiences.
This kid of phobia is blind to gender, age, race or religion. It can attack anyone. Usually, the affected people are the ones who know how to drive. In some cases, the affected do not even have any experience of being behind the wheels. This is quite rare but still it happens.
If that is the case, the fear is usually the result of an incident that involved the person in questions. The accident is very traumatic in nature. Therefore, the affect is enormous.
Such experiences are usually the cause of the problem. These accidents can really leave a mark on the people who were involved.
It could be that the affected was involved in an accident in which their car hit another one up front. The accident might be over. However, due to the severity of the event, images can still flash through the mind of the driver.
Some of the affected drivers go through severe panic and anxiety while driving. This is more likely to happen in the areas where the accidents occurred. This anxiety and fear can be so crippling that it leads to people quitting driving totally.
Pedestrians, who happen to be the victims of car accidents, also suffer from this phobia. They might avoid driving.
