Thoughts On Vacations In The Italian Lakes And Mountains

By Hans Kreiling

Holidays in the Italian Lakes and Mountains have always been popular with travellers to the great historical country of Italy. There are so many different attractions on offer in Italy with its absolutely stunning landscapes and wonderful cities steeped in history. There are also so many great national dishes, from pizzas to pastas that will wet your appetite and the people are so friendly and accommodating that your stay will leave with memories to last a lifetime.

The three main Italian Lakes on offer for your visiting pleasure are Garda, Maggiore and Como. These lakes are dazzlingly beautiful under the Italian sun and provide an awe inspiring spectacle against the backdrop of Dolomites, the great mountains that stand above them.

Besides the lakes and mountains, of course, Italy offers so much more. There are beaches to explore and lovely little local towns and villages steeped in history. In fact, if it is history that you are after then you will most certainly be spoilt for choice. With cities like Rome, Venice, and Florence you will have so much to see from great architecture to beautiful art.

There are a host of great wonders all around the lakes for your to take in. Isola Bella is a great spot on Maggiore, and there are lots of great gardens for you to look around, including the botanical gardens in Gardone.

If you are more of an active soul then walking up into the mountains and going on some hiking trips might be more for you. There are so many different paths and trails of varying degrees of difficulty for you to explore throughout the Dolomites that you will be spoilt for choice.

If you are an independent sort of person then hiring a car and taking in the sights and sounds at your own leisure is the best way to go and you will no doubt find some little treats along your travels that might otherwise avail you. However, Italy is also great for anyone who is looking for a more relaxing break at a lovely beach resort or an indulgent spa holiday as well.
