When sidewalks or driveways begin to crack, a concrete repair solution is required. To do this you should obtain the materials to complete the project at a home improvement store. Tools you need include the use of patching material, a trowel and a metal brush.
Use the metal brush to clean out cracks and areas that require repairs on the surface. You then need to rinse the area with water from a garden hose. Allow the surface to completely dry and then clean any of the remaining material by using a broom or shop vac.
A mortar repairing compound can be used for fill small cracks in the material. Squeeze the compound a small bit and begin filling the cracks. Pressure is needed to force the material fully into the cracks. Run on of the fingers of your hand over the surface to smooth it out.
The use of a patch material is needed for holes and larger cracks. This material comes in a small bag of mix that will require the addition of water. Mix the material in a bucket and then scoop it out and into a crack or hole. Smooth the patch with the trowel.
Make sure the repaired ares of a sidewalk or drive way is smooth. You will need to run your trowel on a repaired area multiple times to smooth it out. You do not need to be perfect as long as the cracks or hole is repaired to your satisfaction.
Completing a concrete repair job yourself is a good home improvement project. However, if you do not like to work with this material, a sidewalk fixing service can be used. You may be able to find a service to hire by looking online.
