Foods to Avoid When You Are Having An Active Bladder

By Roger Demetri

Do you suffer from an overactive bladder? Do you have to often stop what you're doing so that you can go to the bathroom? Have you tried every thing you can see to stop those frequent trips into the restroom at work? Most people believe that any sort of bladder activity happens because of the amount of liquid we take in. This is usually why a lot of people nearly dehydrate themselves in an effort to keep from having to visit the bathroom too often.

Would you believe us if we informed you that it is equally probable that the things you eat could also be causing you to make these frequent potty breaks? The truth of the matter is that those "pee breaks" are just a way to rid your body of waste. That waste material is built up from both solid and liquid sources. The waste you get rid of can be from items that are each liquid and solid--it doesn't matter what form it is in when you eat or drink it.

While Vitamin C is important for fighting off infections, it has been established that citrus fruits can bother the bladder. This is certainly due to the fact that plenty of citrus fruits are made up of acid that is certainly why they need to be avoided both as solids and as juices. Oranges, tangerines, lemons, grapefruits and also limes, for example are significant culprits of this as is pineapple even though it is technically not a citrus fruit. To obtain your Vitamin C serving daily, eat fruits like apples, pears, bananas and berries.

Try to not cry over this too much but when you have an overactive bladder, you should avoid eating too much chocolate. Chocolate includes caffeine. Your bladder doesn't enjoy it a lot whenever you ingest caffeine and it will send you to the toilet quite a lot when you take in lots of it. This is just as true for caffeinated drinks. If you have been making a lot of excursions to the bathroom you should stay away from all forms of caffeine. Instead, figure out how to like dark chocolate and also decaf coffee (or soda).

Foods which are especially spicy might irritate your bladder quite a lot. This will be hard for people who are enthusiasts of spicy foods but if you want to stay out of the bathroom you need to avoid foods that contain high levels of spiciness like wasabi sauce, super spicy nachos, etc. If the food makes your nose and eyes run it is gonna help to make other areas of your body run too. The fix is easy: pick foods that aren't as spicy--this way you can get the same good tastes without irritating your bladder.

We tend to believe that if it comes out of our body in liquid form then it must have gone into our bodies in liquid form. This is generally not totally accurate. The waste that comes out of our bodies is simply the excess parts of what we have consumed that cannot be used or stored so it is excreted in whatever manner is the most convenient.
